So we have three ways to make a unit fight last (AoR, Judiciar, Murderous Hurricane).  That is fantastic.

Don't forget the Whirlwind strat. If hordes become meta the might be ok again :smile.:

With more terrain on the boards, having a Whirlwind just to plink away at Objective Campers out of LOS is not a bad idea.

Would you rather take TH/SS or PF/SS on TWC for anti tank fun?

Tough call and its weird to say since ive always loved hammers but i'm actually leaning on fists in that role now. The AP loss on hammers is pretty rough since mode tanks still get a 5+ which gets really swingy when you get to the dice rolls and being able to reliably take one down. Being a bit cheaper too is always a plus.

I think the extra damage is better than the AP, and I believe most vehicles are 3+, but I demure to the MathHammer savvy among us to determine that.  Also better in a Terminator/Gravis meta.

I love the hammers as well but only -2 AP is huge to me since most vehicles are going to get 5+.

I lean towards the Hammer for the flat 3 damage. The ability to one-shot Terminators, Heavy Intercessors etc is still good. The Hammer goes to AP-3 once the Assault doctrine kicks in which helps and we also have ways of triggering that early on key units if we need to.

In any case, the correct answer is: Magnets! :biggrin.:

You can also use psychic powers and strategems to get additional AP.

Another loss is swiftclaws, they were a casualty of the index and didn't seem to come back. Its not a huge loss because we still get bike squads but I was kinda looking forward to the extra attack from berserk charge.

one of the reviews I've seen has them amended in the supplement to have the bike squad gain the swift claw keyword and the berserk charge and headstrong abilities.

its at about 6:20 into the video you can see the bullet point.

I can't see it on my Phone but I would be stoked if true

basically the bullet points says-

Swiftclaw units in space wolves detachments gain the headstrong and berserk charge abilities (pg 61)

I agree, they were not going to try to print and handle 200+ page SW, BA and DA codexes. They already cut a bunch between 7E and 8E to keep them roughly equivalent with the datasheet expansion. They either had to cut more content or cut datasheets and they chose the latter.

I think the approach they took with Swiftclaws will be of a more obvious form when the DA supplement comes out, where there are a vast amount that would be duplicated from Ravenwing and Deathwing.

I actually liklike the changes to Swiftclaws. I was going to buy Outriders, but not anymore. 'Claws do lose the WGPL option, which sucks, but gaining BS3+ more than makes up for it. Fast moving melta sounds awesome, with a Frost Claw (relic upgrade) on the Pack Leader. Gets you a highly versatile unit packing accurate anti Infantry and anti tank platform in both shooting and assault.

I for one am pretty stoked! Probably going with a min squad packing a MM Attack Bike and Frost Claw sgt. 5 S5 reroll to wound D2 attacks is great against a huge variety of profiles.

Technically its the marine codex but Ironclad Dreadnoughts look tasty for us

Ironclads are solid, especially for a Dreadnought Wall, as they can bring some solid anti-infantry firepower with Hurricane Bolters, as well as strong anti-tank, and T8 with Duty Eternal.

Slap on Hunters Unleashed for +1 to hit and Heroic Intervention, and I think they'll make great accompaniments to Venerables and Bjorn.

Does anyone who has the supplement know if blood claws went back to BS4 from the BS3 printed in the index?

Edit: I ask because I have a drop pod list idea for smaller games and it involves them doing a little shooting on their to assault.

I have been planning to create a Dreadmob for Bjorn for a while. I have old guy of course and I have a Redemptor waiting assembly which should add some serious firepopwer. Then I just need a tanky Dread. Ven Dread with Axe and Shield is pretty decent but there is competition. A Contemptor with Multimelta looks pretty nice now as it combines shooting and melee with a 5++. And there is Ironclad which lacks and Invulerable save but does pack T8. At the moment I am leaning towards the Contemptor, anyone care to make a different case?

I will also be bringing this guy to nursemaid the old codgers across the battlefield. :biggrin.:
