Cybernetica

Iron hands, although I’m a little biased. Head of the Gorgon RoW gives you access to battle automata in your elites slot. So you can field up to four units of: castellax, vorax, domitar, arlatax. Also, remember that every cortex controller allows you to place a unit of thallax or castellax in your heavy support.

However, the issue for the IH is their lack of a Cortex controller on a HQ option with “master of the legion” (apart from Autek morr). This means in order to run the RoW and to retain control of your bots you either have to run Autek or multiple HQs (unless you want a Techmarine running around). You could run them without cortex control, you loose the ability to run and to sweep you opponent, which can be irritating.

You maybe better served running a cybernetica Allied detachment. You can get access to thanatars at this point as well as getting initiative bonuses and extended cortex control, with the ability to attach your HQ to a unit of monstrous creatures.

Hope that helps!

Another aspect to consider is what you want the robots themselves to do: are you looking to plug a gap in your list (that another unit doesn't do as well), or is this perhaps for theme and variety? Either is viable of course - but this might also be influential in considerations of what works 'best' just as much as how easy it is to access them.

I've played against lists that included them (from memory, Raven Guard and Salamanders), so there's at least scope for including them in a range of Legions!
