Ashen Claws

[Daemon Prince Marbas]

So I am building an Ashen Claws force based off of what's known about them from the Carcharodons Astra novels and the Horus Heresy Black Books. What units would best fit them? Seeing as they lack the infrastructure to have Primaris as they are Renegade pirates (but not Chaos!), I'm wanting to avoid any Primaris units out of respect for the fluff.

If it were me, based on the fluff I have read, I would focus on:

 

• Mostly infantry-based list, with a contingent of dreadnoughts and fliers
• I would tap into more of the heresy-era kits and models as I feel they would better suit the claws
• Given their terran born lineage, from a modelling perspective you could definitely work in southeast asian / japanese elements into their aesthetic 
• I would avoid units that are difficult to upkeep: Tanks, skimmers, perhaps terminator armor
• Like most Raven Guard, I would focus on getting as many Jump Pack troops as you can into the list. Thankfully the new Space Marine codex makes Jump Pack Vanguard Veterans a very competitive choice that you can make quite fluffy in this army
