Every single business should have spent their "open time" preparing for the next lockdown.

I can't say for sure whether GW did that or not.

But every medical expert that I've looked into very, very clearly told the world that a second wave would come. I like to think that GW was business savvy enough to take it seriously. All of their designers and writers should have been spending their time establishing the protocols and infrastructure to work from home. The factory and shipping apparatus is harder to Covid proof, but it can be done.

Here's hoping.

The last lockdown was longer and more strict than this one and GW performed so well during it that they even paid back the emergency money from the government as they basically didn’t need it.

I’m sure this time will be the same although it might have an effect on the release schedule like last time.

From PMs statement

Essential shops will remain open so "there's no need to stock up", he insists, adding that workplaces should stay open where people cannot work from home.

Larger stores may do click and collect. Smaller stores will probably close. May be further delays to orders as mail slows due to demand and GW have more orders for home delivery so delays their end

I found out that I was missing the green paint that I basecoat my Ork army flesh with so I've just chipped in a modest order so hopefully I can keep painting for quite some time. Don't worry, I didn't panic buy the whole stock. :p

I was expecting another peak at some point this year so I'm not surprised. It's a shame though, I was just starting to come out of my shell and get a few games of 40k going with an old friend.

They will be able to work at the factory and the distribution centre. The prime minister clearly stated people can still go to work if they can’t work from home.

Obviously GW could decide themselves to shut these things down, but it is absolutely not required by the government rulings.

Their high street retail shops will have to shut though.

What's been said already is correct, although I'd just add that there is the possibility for further restrictions to be introduced if those announced today do not have the desired effect (obviously, that depends on good levels of compliance, etc) - certainly, some scientists have been saying that what has been announced today may not be enough on its' own.  Obviously, we all hope that's not the case!

Longer term, who knows how this will affect GW’s stores. Each time I’ve gone into my local town (Kingston) over the summer I’ve seen another bunch of empty shops. But I hope the fact that they run in-store events and gaming means there will always be a good reason For people to visit a FLGS over switching to mail-order.

The UK government Is keen to keep manufacturing and construction going against the clobbering the rest of the economy is taking, so that bodes well for GW.

GW are in a fortunate position of profits going up during Nurgles Rot

Most stores are lossleaders for them anyway so fingers crossed we wont see any store closures. Demand for retail space falling should help too

UK gov today though tacitly admitted the 4 week lockdown there is likely to be extended

I plan tomorrow to drop by my FLGS and buy a box, they're already planning to do click and collect during the new lockdown, and they massively expanded their web presence this year as a result. But I'd rather give them some money now, to help them get through the next month when they lose table booking income, rather than wait and not have a shop to come back to.

The biggest problem's going to be scalpers who're well aware that some people will pay basically anything to get their hands on models if the supply/distribution breaks down and things go out of stock. I foresee a lot of them making bulk orders just to Ebay.

Today's Warhammer Community article should answer the question: UK GW stores and Warhammer World will be closed; other elements of GW such as the manufacturing and fulfillment don't appear to be affected.

The art at the top of that article looks so cute—am I the only one who finds these new art pieces when attached to articles about GW as a company adorable? The art style is so incongruous to the norm that it stands out in its simplicity.

Plus just seeing a techpriest performing the mundane task of loading a cargo ship is a glimpse into a ‘boring daily life’ rather than the novel-worthy stuff we usually see.

No, you're not - all of the artwork they've used on Warhammer Community to communicate about the COVID measures has made me smile. :)
