I found the release date for Codex: Black Templars last week in the White Dwarf.

November 5 2005. Everything was then released in November-December.

By my reckoning, we've had no BT Specific GW model releases since Draco in maybe January 2006...?

Draco was released in 3rd edition.

I think we may be technically both right. And it's an interesting fact I didn't know.

I googled 'Castellan Draco Release Date' and according to this forum from 2006: https://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?21553-Castellan-Draco-rules The model was fully released in January 2006, with rules in that January White Dwarf. But appears to have been around for much longer than that as a European Games Day special release, and was very hard to get hold of before 2006.

That may also explain why he doesn't appear in the 4th ed codex, as he wasn't on general release.

"think we are awesome as the last bastion of firstborn strength."

My dude, I have some bad news...

Be honest with me Sete, should I bother repainting my firstborn crusader squads?

Otherwise I'm going to finally paint up some assault intercessors and add try greenstuff tabards.

Do you mean A) repaint them from Templar to something else or B) somehing else to Templar or C) Templar to Templar because it's nice to make models we painted when we were less skilled match our newer, more zealously painted models?

If A... Well... I find myself sharpening my blad and reciting "Suffer Not The Unclean To Live"

If B... Yes, by the emperor yes, "Accept Any Challenge, No Matter The Odds"

If C then I am proud of you for Upholding The Honour Of The Emperor and you may do as you please

GS tabards are worth doing - here's one I did following Last Light Creative's tutorial - https://www.instagram.com/p/CODE6KdHfKH/

2000 around the same time as the Codex: Armageddon dropped, but I don't think it was as a Games Day model per say just one of the special edition models they did from time to time back then.

The suggestion is that he was used at German, or Swedish games days, before being fully released in 2006, with a name and datasheet in White Dwarf.

That would also explain why his base tab only had 'Templar' on it, and not Draco. He was never designed with a name.

I am absolutely sure that everything you have at home will stay in the Supp.

But everything new will be a Primaris.

Be aware that I'm only 100% sure about a few bits.I can be honest with you, with the amount of knowledge I have is the new stuff is primaris focused. But I dont know everything obviously, nor do I know how ogmarines will be affected. I hope that soon something will be revealed, like I said before, when not if.

Our auto-wound on 6s to hit is actually pretty good IMO, especially with Grimaldus' exploding 6s and a couple standard re-roll auras and our massive amount of attacks. Means that even our chain swords can put out quite decent damage, with AP on almost all out attacks. With Lightning Claw termis it helps too, adds with the re-roll wounds to make them fairly reliable.
I've been over it before. It's the worst one of all the super doctrines. It gives you nothing extra, adds a little bit of reliability, and actively harms models like the Judiciar.

its just not bad because at the moment there are so many goood t5 units there. But think about to have exploding 6s like the space wolves, or +1 attack like the Blood Angels or (boooom) we had +1dmg like the white scars. THAT would be EXTREM powerful.

Yeah man, there is so much T5 out there and wounding on 5s is a killer. Watch 40 dice turn into 4-5 wounds and it gets depressing. With the standard assault doctrine giving -1AP (so basically between -2 to -4 on most our weapons) and getting to skip the wound roll on roughly 1/4 of our dice (after taking into account re-rolled misses) I think it is pretty good. Sure it's not the strongest thing out there but it depends on how you build your army as well. If you build it like the Meta SM army full of elites with fat weapon profiles but limited attacks then you are missing out on most of it's benefit. It's clearly made to be used with mass volume, low strength, AP attacks like chain sword. Ben from Implausible Nature talks about it.

But on the topic of T5, how flipping ridiculous is it that space marines are locked to 4 toughness, regardless of the unit basically. I mean seriously, in other armies basically any elite would be a T5, except guard and sisters for obvious reasons. Versing Necrons the other day, even the Death Marks have T5... And my terminator assault squad are locked to T4... Does that make any sense? 2 of his melee destroyers were able to put out 21 wounds on 7 successful attacks against the 5 terminators and destroy them... Hitting on 2s with re-rolled, wounding on 2s. Basically the only thing that can save them is the Storm Shields on the 2 with THSS. If they fail the save roll then GG, and even of they pass, they can't save everything.

Lore-wise and balance-wise I can not understand how space marines are all toughness 4. My neophyte is literally as hard to kill as my terminator sergeant or my bladeguard veteran...
