Haven't received my compendium yet, but seen some video reviews and the Thunderhawk for 800pts is very much piquing my interested.

The THawk has the Colossal Flyer rule, which used to involve measuring to and from the hull as if it were on the table surface, then adding 12". But the new text in the unit entry just says "measure from the hull".

Is this still as if the model were flat on the tabletop? Or literally however high you happen to have mounted the aircraft? Does it make them vulnerable to half range melta now? or able to benefit from a techmarine's Awaken the Machine Spirit (3" range)?

Perhaps there is a clarifying rules section in the compendium i'm not aware of.

I can only speak for the techmarine...

Blessing of the Omnisssiah: At the end of your movement phase, this model can repair a single friendly insert faction here Vehicle (other then models that can Fly) within 1". That vehicle regains D3 wounds lost earlier in the battle. A vehicle can only be repaired once each turn.

*The Bold text represents Keywords from the the codex.

Different rule. Awaken the Machine Spirits doesn't exclude vehicles that can Fly. It's a 3" range, choose a vehicle, they get +1 to hit. Which with the weapon loadout of the Hawk, hitting on 2+ is a big deal.

None of the last 3 SM codex has had FLY as a qualifier for Blessings of the Omnissiah, nor has the most recent FAQs for the 2019 or the 2020 codex.

It's very possible that a FAQ for the first 8th ed codex mentioned fly, but I didn't head that deep into the rabbit hole.

Ha, yeah I just checked the codex and there is no mention of Fly being excluded. Why make that up?

Interesting, Grey Knight Techmarines have an additional limitation on their Blessing of the Omnissiah rule.

Edited to add: though, this doesn't answer the questions in the OP, alas.
