It was and is. Ritual of the Damned has a very brief bit about how the Dark Angels and the Rock were beset in the Imperium Nihilus and suffered heavy losses alongside their successor Chapters at Darkmor. The 5th company was chosen to traverse the Rift in order to go to Prospero, but the rest stayed behind. I'm not sure there's much rhyme or reason given since the maps rarely have a date stamp.
