Books about Rogue traders?

There are quite a few, all by significant hobby voices:

- John French's Covenant books' secondary (and heavy featured) protagonists are rogue traders (including one featured in the Inquisitor game) (see https://www.blacklibrary.com/series/the-horusian-wars)

- Matt Farrer's second Shira Calpurnia book, Legacy, focuses on rogue traders (https://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/novels/enforcer-omnibus-ebook.html)

- Finally Andy Hoare has a series too (https://www.blacklibrary.com/authors/andy-hoare/rogue-trader-omnibus-ebook.html)

Andy wrote substantial parts of the FFG Rogue Trader RPG, and both be and John French have played active roles at points in 40k, the Heresy and Specialist Games (AH currently manages the latter).

These are three places I'd recommend you go read :)

Eye of Terror is a real flashback to pre-Horus Heresy BL writing.  It features a Rogue Trader as the protagonist having some wacky hijinks, and a Heresy era Dark Angel that ends up meeting a Fallen.  It isn't a good book by today's standards.  But, it does talk about how Rogue Traders can basically exist on paper without any power.

I have not read Death Warrent but it's summary is "When a Rogue Trader encounters an ancient horror, it seems like Space Marines may be her salvation… but the Carcharodons may be more dangerous than the enemy."

and one of the main characters in the Blackstone Fortress series is a Rogue Trader

There is also the audio drama Corsair: The Face of the Void

I remember that one. A pilot episode for a Rogue Trader series, that ends with the perfect setup for further adventures, yet never got a follow-up. Disappointing.

As for novels with Rogue Traders... One of my favorites is in the Eisenhorn trilogy, and another in Ravenor.

Andy Hoares Rouge Trader books are superb. Those James Swallows audios were not for me, I didn’t enjoy them at all. Rogue traders are creatures that need good background detail and audio dramas are action dramas. I don’t think it’s a good subject for short audios.

Rogue traders are a brilliant subject for books that haven’t been used all that well. I never read the dark imperium RPG books, perhaps they have good background?
