So as far as I can see there isn’t a topic for this. I’ve been out of the loop on Custodes since the FW book dropped and wondered if you guys have had much of a chance to review the new changes.

what looks better or worse? Is the book worth buying? I have 2 Telemons, how did they do?

In summary: every fw unit save the tanks saw improvement.

Flamers all 12 inches or more, charging an achillius with two flamers is suicide for many units.

Buckler pistol Venatari got WAY better with the new buckler rules

Sagittarum were mentioned but yes very strong now.

Dreads besides telemon all went down to 9 wounds with no degrading profile. For some reason they still didn't fix the strength on the sword dread...

Telemon and all dreads ignore one point of damage to minimum 1. Telemon and all dreads got more attacks, telemon with fists gets additional attack per fist. So a war of the spider buffed telemon can dish out 7 attacks...yikes.

Ares was buffed a lot. No longer loses firebombs so can drop one every turn. The big gun got blast. Very nice.

Points almost didn't move. Amazing to be honest we and nids won the fw release.

Achilles and Galatus being W9 is pure awesome. Non-degradable profile is just so strong where being even 12 W is a detriment. Cheekily grabbing -1 damage defence is icing on the cak- WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY EVEN GET AN EXTRA ATTACK.

Emperor be praised I'm going to need 5. Of each.

For whatever it's worth: I asked Facebook and they seem to love the Venetari. Ymmv.

But everyone had good things to say about everything. So it may come down to playstyle rather than ruleset.

I think the context would need to be on your list to know which one is a better choice.

Your meta, are you having trouble holding objectives but picking off units like scouts trying to hold middle ground?

sags.

Are you having trouble getting to objectives while erasing almost any unit in the game? Venatari. They are arguably the most flexible unit in our sex currently.

I suppose it was an all around performance question simply because of the money involved. I guess I'd rather feel like if I'm spending the money, I'll get more bang for my buck with one over the other.

But since posting this, yes I can see the conundrum. A few people told me personally they love both for different reasons. :)

If anything I'm annoyed that the FW dreads got Duty Eternal (or whatever it's called on Custodes) but the Venerable Contemptor didn't get it's stats errata-ed to match the Marine Contemptor. With the -1 to incoming damage, not degrading, and Multimelta suddenly not being a joke I think they would compare fairly well to the Galatus and the Achillus for the points

Okay, so just to be certain; my Venerable Contemptor with Multimelta does not get the -1 damage? Doesn't the vanilla contemptor get it? (I think my Ultramarines dual lascannon Contemptor build still gets it?!?!)

Saggitarum are really damn good, though Venetarii getting a 2+ save really pushes them over the top. They're pretty damn deadly.

Yea, I've been talking about this with my buddy who plays a lot of Custodes in the UK (so a different meta) and he swears by Saggitarum. I just think the army is getting some unfair belief in it being 'top tier' right now. I just don't see it aside from very obvious plays.

I think until the codex is tweaked you almost have to get into FW units. The Sisters are -close- to usable, and I do use them as a troop on objectives and in some cases they are a great psychic shield.
