I always use keen senses with my shooting units...but the stratagem got a massive melee buff in 9th

Early reviews pointed out we can ignore charge modifiers like the tanglefoot grenade from custodes

I haven't seen much discussion on the melee buff

The ability to ignore hit modifiers in melee means every eligible unit can hit on 2s thanks to our chapter tactic granting +1 to hit

This trick used to be limited to terminators in the old codex using fury of the first

Now you can do it with things like jump wolf guard or TWC wielding THs that hit on 2

Don't have my book to hand but what is the exact wording? If it is ignores negative modifiers then what you say about hitting on 2s due to the +1 to hit chapter tactic is amazing. If it just say ignores modifiers to hit, then wouldn't that mean it ignores the chapter tactic of +1?

So WS3+ dudes will hit on a 2+ even with Fists/Hammers with Keen Senses in play? That is crazily good if true.

Use it on your Fangs etc T1 and then your melee units when you get into charge range.

Ooooh thats a good catch

I was looking at it last night in terms of fighting Culexus sic assassins but didnt pick that up

*just saw in the FB group if you have a unit with combi weapons AND powerfists it gets good, real good*

So BS3+ dudes will hit on a 2+ even with Fists/Hammers with Keen Senses in play? That is crazily good if true.

Use it on your Fangs etc T1 and then your melee units when you get into charge range.

It has to be used in the shooting phase so you only get to buff 1 unit

Also does not improve BS so you need another trick for long fangs. I use the signum + cherub combo or the recitation of focus when I need BS 2 long fangs

Sorry, I meant WS3+ rather than BS3+. OP fixed.

Note to self: Think faster, type slower. :teehee:

Then in response to your corrected question

All WS in our army is basically WS3 to start

So keen senses + our natural combat doctrine giving +1 will transform any eligible unit (infantry/biker/cavalry) into WS2 in the fight phase

I just noticed that nuance in my last reading of the stratagem...I am so accustomed to the OLD rule I never looked at it closely

I personally stopped using jump WG with THs b/c I couldn't get the 2's rerolling...made the swap to LC spam instead

This also helps TWC holding TH/PFs...previously they couldn't get better than 3s

The new and improved keen senses is really really good
