Good day to all. I am a long time 40k player and more specifically marines. 23 years now. And while I love the model’s and all that... I’m bored with them.

My question is how do you kill primaris marines? I learned to play the game with a Biel-Tan army and loved the Eldar. Wraithlords were the bane of my existence. I couldn’t kill them too well back then and he would stomp me. But last time I fought them with my deathwing, a year and a half ago and not a primaris in sight, I ran through my buddies Iyandin army... Forgive the long post. I’m at a hobby crossroads.

Hi and welcome. This is a tough question to answer. Mostly i take units that have multiple wound damage capability. I havent got to play 9th with mine yet, busy with my necrons and sisters, but have been thru every list build i can come up with. The one thing i always include is fire prisms and crimson hunters. Let us know how you do.

Yeahhh a few editions ago, having toughness 8 actually meant something. Toughness being double the strength meant you literally couldn't damage it (which makes sense).

Nowadays absolutely everything can wound everything.

As above, if you're looking for things to kill Marines, anything with multiple damage and low ap is good. Maybe warwalkers or anything that can take starcannons. If they fail a save its a dead marine. But as its "just" ap-3, the Marines would still get a 6+ regular save, or 5+ if in cover.

Welcome Eternal, the best way to kill Primaris (and now any marines now that they're 2W+) is with "Flat damage" weapons with some AP, ie weapons that deal a fixed amount of damage. Unfortunately Eldar, and especially craftworlds, don't have a huge amount of access to Flat Damage weapons (heavy bolters, Thunder Hammers, power fists etc) or even reliable high damage weapons (melta). D3 damage is the next best thing really in terms of reliablility.

For Craftworlds, the only ones that come to mind are: Pulse lasers, Wraithfists and some of the relics

There's plenty of D3 damage weapons: Ghost axes, Star Cannons, Fire Prism etc.

I highly recommend Star Cannons as the all purpose AP/AT role that everything has access to. Pulse lasers are also great but are only available on two datasheets in the codex.

Shuriken catapults and cannons also work wonders for me unless they're in cover/terminator armour. The -3AP on 6s really stacks up on a decent roll.

At the end of the day it's all down to: what works for you and your meta. Statistics are ignored when the dice gods are at play :biggrin.:
