Bladeguard Vets

My force is 3rd company, but have just got to the Bladeguard section of Indomitus. My question is, my reading of the Codex says Bladeguard Vets are first company - so should be white shoulder pad trims?

As an Ultramarines player - yes!

 

However, my Ultramarines theme is 30K so I use gold trim for all my models. For 1st Company I usually use golden faceplates or that little mowhawk thing on the helmet is gold.

 

So work with your theme of course. :)

Awesome cheers. I mean yeah, ultimately they’re my toy soldiers so I can paint them how I want, but I like to try and stay kind of codex complaint!

Also another option is silver. Silver was used as white in old heraldric forms, like gold was used for yellow.

Just another option if you wanted to go codex, but still have them stand out.

 

I plan on doing a squad seconded to the Third company, So white helmets but red trim. I've got a set of resin shields from the Suzerine guys from the Heresy era.

I plan on doing a 3-man Bladeguard squad as a company command squad, to fit with the Bladeguard-style captain from Indomitus, as well as a home-made Bladeguard Ancient and Bladeguard Company Champion.

I also want to a first company Bladeguard squad with the proper white trim.

I opted to paint mine white before the new codex came out. Just made sense to me as their veterans. Here is a picture, made some headswaps adjustments.(I know the helmets should be white and I did paint one white but in the end I liked the blue more.)  Hopefully it gives you a rough idea what to expect in our colour scheme =).

Yeah, they look stupidly good. Just the helmet swap is amazing, but the colour scheme as well... amazing.

They could also very well be Victrix Guard helms.

I stated this in a different thread. The heads are Vicatrix heads. I asked for a huge favor from a person to get me 80 of those helmets for my 1st company.

I'm a fan of doing the bladeguard in a more "modern" suzerain style. different helmets, maybe different shoulder guards, if the MPKs allow and if you like, gladii or axes as CC weapons and you are set. Ideally you'd change the tabards to pteruges, too. it's a bit of a conversion, but then you got primaris suzerains, a unit that would look even cooler than the awesome squad posted above. :)
