templargdt
Frater- any advice for magnetizing surpressors? That flight stand looks very fragile. Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368052-magnetizing-supressors/ Share on other sites
lhg033
My son broke his inceptors stands several times. In the end we chopped the tip of the flight stand and put a (I think) 2 or 3mm magnet here and a matching one on the backpack. It adds a visable point on the model where it connects but that is also where the stand joins so is less noticeable overall. the join is pretty strong and holds the model well. Also, he's dropped these/knocked them more times since and the worst that has happened is they pop off the stand rather than breaking off. macradam_hue
I ended up just sticking them to the base as is (I am still very much a beginner when it comes to modelling) and I’m quite pleased, with slight adjustments it appears that they are just taking off. Kind of works, I think when I get my next squad I will look to make bigger adjustments Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368052-magnetizing-supressors/#findComment-5644650 Share on other sites
thewarriorhunter
I did the same as Ihg033 and they've worked great so far. I clipped off the tip of the flight stand and glued a 3x1mm magnet onto the stand and onto the backpack. It's been great so far. ShinyRhino
I drilled holes into the underside of the torso piece to which the pack attaches. Inserted metal rod, bent into a curve, then embedded that into big pieces of resin Doric columns from Secret Weapon. I used epoxy for those holes instead of super glue, which has zero rotational shear strength. Grand Master Raziel
I did with the Suppressors what I did with my Inceptors. I drilled out one of the jet exhausts to seat a magnet, then stuck another to the top of the flying stand with a blob of green stuff, tapering down. Then I painted/will paint (the Suppressors are a work in progress) the blob of green stuff to look like an exhaust of flame.
