Debauchery101
I have recently got in a few games and the biggest issue I’ve had with Blightlords is they’re not objective secure. I charged a unit of 10 scarabs, killed half of them, he reanimated 2 bases, and at the end he’s got 7 bases to my 5 on the objective. Over the course of the game I only lost 1 BL to what equated to 15 scarabs (thanks to reanimation). Now 5 Deathshroud in the same scenario killed all 10 bases. My opinion if you’re looking for terminators to sit on objectives, go with the DS. thats what I have done in the past. 20 man blob of pox walkers, foul Blightspawn, Typhus death shroud terminators. Most opponents concede the objective to you while they whittle you down with shooting until they can finish you off with melee. I also agree that the lack of obsec really aint helping blightlords. I'm also going to stop worrying about DG until we get to delve into the full codex. Because right now GW just flipped the table on this faction with the previews they've given us. There are a lot of people, including myself who have invested a lot into poxwalkers, nurglings and other demons. I dont personally know any DG player who isn't anxious and a bit worried how it's all going to shake out.
Special Officer Doofy
I'm not anxious. All I play is DG. I don't really use poxwalkers and I only play mono so no daemons. Other than the DR nerf everything is shaping up to be a buff. The points costs are going to go up, but as long as it's reasonable there shouldn't be an issue. I'm excited, not worried. Raktra
I can't see our points going up hugely, just a minor increment. I'm actually mildly optimistic base equipment Blightlords will drop a little. Not a huge change, just shaved down here and there.
Archaeinox
I think death guard astartes infantry can expect more of an increase than the 20% tactical marines got considering the new rules, A and W. In any case, I'm super excited
Debauchery101
I think what would make our terminators a lot better of a choice is if we could make Plague Command Squad for our elite characters that are or were..well see...a substantial factor in list making. The Foul Blight spawn...dude is definitely in top 5 must takes for DG.
Iron Sage
I can't see our points going up hugely, just a minor increment. I'm actually mildly optimistic base equipment Blightlords will drop a little. Not a huge change, just shaved down here and there I got 13 Blightlords ready to paint, only grey models left thankfully. Been waiting to paint them before the codex falls (they are unfortunately glued though, except the 3 from Felthius cohort), in case I got to break off an arm here and there. My issue is that 2 of them got reapers. I regretted gluing that on the day after I did it, but such is life. I am hopeful that they will fall a bit drastically in points. Sure, we got an additional ap, but the weapon isn't great, particularly with existing points cost. So yeah, hoping reapers will be significantly cheaper. Or I will have to do some surgery on two models... Edited December 27, 2020 by Iron Sage
techsoldaten
A lot of people are talking about the potential for Blightlords to hold a point. What about capturing a point? Sure, they're not ObSec, but they do a massive amount of damage in close combat. Aiming them at points your opponent intends to hold means they're going to get to assault. Wolf Lord Loki
Might start giving a good reason for having the heavy flamer in the unit. Drop them on an objective and you opponent will either have to shoot or assault them off and they have a steadily decreasing window with which to get rid of them as the Contagions slowly increase turn by turn. As the toughness modifier spreads it will be easier to start shooting to death any units trying to get within charge range
