The rule for the omniscope states the following:

 

"Each time a model in this unit makes a ranged attack, if this unit contains a Centurion Sergeant, then the target does not receive the benefits of cover against that attack."

 

So they ignore -1 to hit when shooting through cover ?

Good question, I know you wouldn’t get the +1 cover save. I just don’t think shooting through terrain counts as a benefit of cover.

If you’re hitting on 4+ versus 3+ that’s a benefit for the enemy unit.

It’s under rare rules, if it doesn’t specify what benefits are ignored then all benefits are ignored. That would apply for light, heavy, and dense cover.
