For the third year in a row, three of my friends and I are going back at it for an Imperium vs Chaos apocalypse game. I’ll make a thread on the discussion board with pictures and such from last year, and for this year after it happens.

 

4000 points an army, 8000 per team. After last years spectacle at the city gates, this battle will take place in the ruin-heavy city. My Requiem Angels will fight alongside the Gamma Fists (Imperial Fists successor) against traitor guard and their Tzeentch/Thousand Sons allies.

 

Obviously at this scale the carnage is absolute and hard to plan for! But would love to hear your thoughts on the custom game type and army list my battle brothers.

 

We have a custom game we came up with:

 

Desecration - a number of imperial shrines are put up around the battlefield (6 to 9). As an action, chaos can desecrate a shrine. Doing so gives them 10 vp. Imperium, as an action, can destroy a desecrated shrine as an action. There is no way to reconsecrate them.

 

At the end of the game, each imperial shrine is worth 15 VP to imperium, and each desecrated shrine that was not destroyed is worth another 5 vp to chaos.

 

I expect to face at least 10 tanks including a baneblade on the traitor guard side, and plenty of rubrics, a chaos knight, Ahriman, Magnus, and lots of psykers/demons (Lord of change?) for the thousand sons.

 

A few tactical notes:

-Land raider with Knights & Ezekiel

-Azrael Hellblaster bubble for tanks

-ravenwing for aggressively getting objectives/teleport homer/pot shots at tanks

Chaos path to victory basic requires at least three desecrations. If they desecrate and hold three objectives, it becomes 60 to 45, and they can make that deficit up in secondarys. If they desecrate and hold 4 objectives, it gets much worse for us. Flip that around to 45-60. We can deny them points by knocking them off those objectives, but we only do so by a maximum of, and that's if we clear house. It's more likely we'll be able to destroy 2 desecrated shrines, leaving the score 45-50, turning the game entirely to secondaries at that point. We have to throw ablative bodies onto the midfield shrines to stop them from desecrating them, once they get a hold of it, it's gone.
