Hello

I'm building up a hybrid Thousand Sons/CSM force, and I've been toying up with ideas about how to Tzeentch up some of the CSM specific characters such as Master of Executions, Dark Apostle, and Warpsmith. I have yet to actually get the Exalted Sorcerer box for my TS box, so I have no real experience with it yet, and I am wondering:

1) How many spare bits do you get from the box? I already have a fair bit of Tzeentch bits saved up, but anything that adds to the bit box is very appreciated.

2) How versatile are the poses/options in the kit. I'm thinking of using the models to base my conversions off of, as opposed to getting the standard CSM models and Tzeentching them up, but since I plan on also having Exalted Sorcerers I didnt want to many similar poses on different characters

The GW store shows you the bits, there are a lot as you can see! You'll get quite a few spares as there are various choices to be had, the collar bits you can attach to any torso might be perfect for adding a strong Sons theme to another model with little effort especially with the shoulder pads. It's worth noting that the Exalted Sorcerer box's bits are quite different to the Rubric's as they are fancier and focused on the character aspect, so I think it'll be just what you need :tu:

As a basic example the poses on the box models are not set so you can mix and match as I did:

No other box comes to mind as a competitor for the Exalted Sorcerers in terms of bits and variety, as you collect Sons anyway it'd be in your hands sooner or later. When you do you'll be wishing you got it earlier I'm sure :P

Yes that kit is truly a blessing for Thousand Sons and converters in general! I spent a decade converting my own sorcerers and I immediately fell in love with the kit. It exceeded my every expectation when I saw the 1st pics

Awesome! I think I'll be picking up two boxes then, one for sorcerers and another for the characters then.

Honestly the biggest reason I'm going this route and not converting the base CSM characters is I really don't like the look of the Master of Executions. The sculpt is great, but it doesn't fit the aesthetic I'm going for. Hopefully some converted Tzaangor/Kairic axes can look the part

I'm far happier with this conversion then I am my photo skills. Left is supposed to be a Warpsmith. I used part of a Electro-priest cog thing on the helmet, Iron Father Ferros Axe-wrench+a Tzeentch axe for his weapon, and a Chaos Plasma I had laying around. I used some Helbrute power-scourges for the Mechatendrils

Center is supposed to be the Master of Executions. I used a Bestigor axe arm I had laying around (Part of my R&H force is kitbashed from the Bestigor kit) and some older skullish CSM bits.

Right is the Dark Apostle. He is the one I fear looks a bit too much like an Exalted Sorcerer. I gave him a Tzaangor great weapon for his mace, a big ol book hand from the Tzeentch heralds, and a third party head. I avoided giving out any big head-dresses to prevent confusion with ES'

Very fun kit. I'm going to try and use the spare-parts and the disc to tzeetch-up a Lord Discordant. Might grab Haarken Worldclaimer and give him double Khopeshi
