Doctor Perils
Hi, I have a Slaanesh daemonette colour scheme in mind using rose gold, but I don't believe there's anything like that in the citadel paint range - does anyone have any ideas of other ranges I could find this colour? Alternatively, would anyone have a good recipe for producing such an effect by using some kind of glaze, eg a carroburg crimson or volupus pink glaze - I'm planning on using the colour for the daemonettes' skin, so there should be decent surface variation for contrast paints (I hope) Thanks in advance :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368424-rose-gold-paint/ Share on other sites
Lord Marshal
Tourmaline Alchemy from Scale75 is probably what you're looking for. There's also Ruby Alchemy if you want a more reddish tone. If you don't already know, they go on like metallic glazes rather than a typical paint. Here's a video. I've used them for my Conquest stuff and I really like them. There's also Bubblegum Crisis from TurboDork which is a colourshifting paint, but it doesn't go on too well if not put through an airbrush. If you're more eager to stick with Citadel thinned down Volupus Pink over Runefang Steel or Iron Hands Steel might work. Contrast takes to metallics pretty damn well in my experience. Doctor Perils
Thanks for all the great tips, and especially for the video Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368424-rose-gold-paint/#findComment-5651066 Share on other sites
Magos Takatus
Darkstar have an impressive range of metallic paints, though I must admit I've never tested their range. Perhaps of of these would be to your liking? Mazer Rackham
I'd throw the Red Gold in from Vallejo Liquid Gold range as well - just make sure you thin it with spirits and not water as the water will rust the metal in the paint. It is acrylic, not enamel as some believe. It's beautiful paint, but takes a bit more effort. MR. Doctor Perils
Thanks to the both of you too :) it just so happens that I'm waiting for an order from Scale75 which includes their metalics set with the Tourmaline Alchemy (I hadn't ordered it for that specifically at the time so it's a nice coincidence) so I'll try that out when it gets here :) (Just have to wait for it to get shipped again because the first time something got damaged and leaked out in the box :( ) Mazer Rackham 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368424-rose-gold-paint/#findComment-5651106 Share on other sites
Closet Skeleton
What do you mean by 'rose gold'? In the jewlery trade its basically just any high copper mid to low-karat gold which is a range of colours. I have a rose-gold watch that just looks gold at a distance or in poor light and is just a bit redish. If you mean the kind of silvery pink that turns up in google searches for rose gold you probably want to look at copper paints not gold ones. The simplest citadel path to rose gold is their normal gold range finished with Reikland Fleshshade Gloss but I have a feeling you want something pinkish so that wouldn't work. Closest thing to that is Canoptek alloy which would produce a really pale pink-gold with Reikland Fleshshade Gloss but I'd really suggest looking for pink-ish copper paints. You can mix copper and silver paint together to get pinkish silver, its not illegal to mix metalics. Doctor Perils
Thanks for the feedback @closet skeleton. After a (tiny) bit of research, it looks like I was originally thinking of jewelry rose gold, but my first port of call will be trying the Tourmaline Alchemy (shades with carroburg crimson, reikland fleshshade or druchii violet most likely). If I don't like it I may try a couple of mixes and recipes like you suggest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368424-rose-gold-paint/#findComment-5652752 Share on other sites
Jukkiz
I made something of rose gold sorts by mixing just normal gold, silver and abit red ink. Turned out kinda like light gold with red hue on/in it. Trial and error though Edited January 12, 2021 by Jukkiz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368424-rose-gold-paint/#findComment-5653243 Share on other sites
