The Reanimator drops 30 points and the Nightbringer has gone up by 20. Their power levels have been adjusted to 4 and 19 as well.

I'm wondering if this means Chapter Approved is no longer considered an effective means of updating unit points and power levels. I noticed the Space Marine Eradicators, Inceptors, and Outriders all caught errata point increases as well.

Maybe, or also possible that GW has taken some feedback about being more pro-active to some of the most glaring issues in FAQ's. Who knows. Either way, that's good news for the reanimator. And I won't be upset at the increase on the nightbringer. The question is, is the reanimator drop going to change anyone's mind to taking one if they did not before? Not a bad drop, much needed. My greedy side wishes it was 60, but I suppose 80 is pretty good.

At least the new rulebook faq clears up Szeres fat base and deploying from a transport.

I think Reanimator issues remain. As a general rule, brining the equivalent points value of other models will pay more dividends than the Reanimator will. It's too easy to kill and brings nothing to the table except for models it saves. My personal opinion is that the Reanimator doesn't become a neutral choice until 70ish points. It doesn't become a desirable choice until 50 or 60.

It's not a fair or direct comparison but when you look at the statline of a Space Marine Invader at 80 points and compare it to the Reanimators statline at 80 points you start to realize that GW is still far far overvaluing our reanimation protocols and the ability to buff them vs direct damage units.

Seems like decent changes.

The Nightbringer was obviously the best Ct'an and should cost more. Is twenty too much. dunno

The Reanimator was obviously over-priced but it was just as obviously just a dumb unit. At t6 and 6 wounds, there's nothing you can do to stop even the lightest anti vehicle weapons from easily removing them. You can't hide them or buff them in any meaningful way. It is going to die almost immediately.

More excited by the scoring timing change.

I missed the missing keyword on the stalker, but if never got challenged so that’s fine.

I don’t have the nightbringer, but if you’re paying 350, 370 isn’t that much of an increase.

The Reanimator is interesting. I don’t think the points drop makes it competitive, but it may be useable in fun/narrative games. I think it was unplayable at 110. Another change that boosts it slightly is the change to the “Bring it Down” secondary. 3 of them will now only give up 3 points, instead of 6. So you can have a couple vehicles and them. It’s also a +1 to reanimate on any unit, not just core. I think there’s some play in the unit now.

Both are interesting tweaks since they obviously recognize the two units (as well as the SM units affected) needed addressing, but I think in both cases the issue is more the stats than the points for me. At least for Nightbringer, I don't see 20 points meaning a whole lot for that damage output of 6 attacks that can't be invul or ignored and do a bunch of damage each.

I was hoping they'd clarify the Doomstalker's Overwatch, but oh well.
