Waterslide decals and how to get the printer colours right?

So I picked up a hp laser printer this week and dipped my toe in to the homemade decals scene and after messing around with the settings I managed to print off some test pieces. The printer is only monochrome so for the moment till I get another one I’m stuck with just doing black and white decals obviously.

The paper I’m using is clear laser waterslide decal paper by Sunnyscopa here’s a link to their site: https://sunnyscopa.com/collections/best/products/laser-waterslide-decal-paper?variant=36073890218150

I got mine off Amazon way cheaper.

I used the Necropolis Hawks chapter badge as a test and it looks ok but not 100%. Does any of the decal makers here have any idea how I get a better black? I’ve added what I’ve done and a test pauldron after applying the decal. They’re facing right as I want to do the Deathwatch Chapter.

Any help will be appreciated.

If a second going over messes with the outlines ,you could try printing the second time with a white stroke on the inside of the shapes. That way it’ll fill in the core of each transfer, but leave the edges nice and crisp.
