angrom
Hi everyone, So I am a bit lost between all the different ways GW decided to make things work with combat. Now his basic rule is that in the fight phase he can select one enemy unit within 3" and this unit fight last. (I guess this is self explanatory and if someone charges you then you can still strike first with all other units in combat) But there is also the option with a relic (Revolting stench) to give a 6" aura that prevent enemy unit to use any rule to fight first and consider that this unit didn't charge this turn. So I am right to consider the following: If this enemy unit charge during their turm but is for some reasons out of 3" does this enemy unit count as already in combat from previous turn (not charging) and as such as I will be the defending player (opponent turn) can I choose to make my charged unit fight first before they can activate? Also as the rule says that they cannot fight first from any rule or any source, does that mean that they cannot interrupt with the stratagem to fight first? How does that work if multiple units in my army get charged this turn but are in the 6" aura? Kallas
There are, essentially a few 'steps' of which units get to fight: Units that charged this turn, or have a Fight First type rule, starting with the player whose turn it is. Alternate all of these units until there are none of this category left. Units that have not charged/do not have a Fight First (ie, 'normal' fighting), starting with the player whose turn it is not. Alternate all of these units until there are none of this category left. Units that must Fight Last (eg, those affected by the Foul Blightspawn's 3" aura), starting with the player whose turn it is. Alternate all of these units until there are none of this category left. Essentially, the Foul Blightspawn 6" relic turns Category 1 units into Category 2 units. So your assertion is correct: any other units that charged will fight, then you will pick the first Category 2 unit to fight with, then alternate. Hopefully that makes sense (and if someone sees an error, please correct me!) Xenith
Kallas has it correct as above. Also as the rule says that they cannot fight first from any rule or any source, does that mean that they cannot interrupt with the stratagem to fight first? Some clarification on this part - the Counter Attack stratagem is more a "Fight Next" thing than fight first. It can be used to interrupt a bunch of stuff fighting first, but it does not confer the fight first rule per se. Note, that to be a target for this stratagem, a unit must be an eligible target for it. Check the wording. Things like the SM Judiciar has a similar rule which states a unit within 3" is not eligible to fight until all other units have done so, which overrides the counter attack strat. McElMcNinja
What are anyone’s thoughts on running 2 Blightspawn? Equip the first with Pathogen Viscous Death and the Relic Revolting Stench Vats, the second with the Relic Vimitryx. You will then have 1 with flat 7 shots while the other with +1S and re-roll number of shots. You also gain 2 anti-charge buffs, 1 with the extended range.
