L30n1d4s
Anyone else think RG are going to see a resurgence as more super Characters, like the Silent King, Mortarion, presumably Magnus, get upgraded for 9th edition? The ability to get "free" +1 to hit/wound on all your weapons, including on non-Core units like vehicles and Centurions, makes RG really good at taking on these tough characters with 10+ wounds that other factions are likely going to struggle with a bit (just look at the new Mortarion.... 18W at T8 3+/4++/5+++, with -1 to all damage in attacks against him, and that's without any of the supporting buffs from Psychic powers, etc.)... RG Terminators with TH/SS loadout come to mind as a mega character killing unit out of DS. Anyway, I am excited at the possibility that RG tactics could be getting a relative "boost" in the future meta, perhaps becoming one of the "anti-meta" factions (which kind of fits in with their lore and theme anyway). greatcrusade08
Yeah i saw mortarions rules and was like OMGGGGGG!!!!!!!! hes unkillable. With T8 the +1 to wound is going to make a huge difference. infact heavy bolters will be wounding on 4s, anything more than -1ap is wasted with his 4++ XeonDragon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368590-raven-guard-super-doctrine/#findComment-5655140 Share on other sites

L30n1d4s
One squad of Plasma Inceptors is probably not enough. Even with all the buffs, they get an average of 24 shots, 23-24 hits, 15-16 wounds, 7-8 unsaved wounds, and 5-7 damage inflicted after Morty's 5+++ FNP. Similarly with Bolter Inceptors, they get 36 shots, 35-36 hits, 17-18 wounds, 8-9 unsaved wounds, and 6-8 damage after 5+++ FNP. I think where it is really at is actually deep striking Eradicators with JP Captain and JP Chaplain support. With 6 Heavy Melta Rifles a squad of Eradicators can arrive within 12", get +1 to hit from the Chaplain, reroll 1s to hit from the Captain, and +1 to hit/to wound from Raven Guard "Surgical Strikes" Doctrine. That compensates for moving and shooting the Heavy Melta rifles and nets around 12 hits, 8 wounds, 4 unsaved wounds, 24 damage inflicted on average (that accounts for Mortarion's -1 Dmg... at 12", each heavy melta rifle average 7 Dmg per unsaved wound), and about 16 total damage after the FNPs, leaving Morty on 2Ws... you could finish that off with the Hellfire Shell Stratagem in the same turn.
