Rodden
Hello, I already finished reading False Gods (book 2) and Galaxy in Flames (book 3). CanadaPost delayed my The Flight of the Eisenstein (book 4) delivery... so I started to read the lore in the Core Rules and Codex SM. In the book 3 I found out that Horus will pay a visit to Terra and, unfortunately, the lore in the Core Rules spoiled what will happen with the Emperor etc... So my questions are: 1 - In which book Horus will fight the Emperor? 2 - Considering the huge amount of books, I don't know if I must read all of them in order or if there are some books that I can skip, because they are not fundamental to the main story (until Horus meets his ex-Emperor). Therefore, do you have a suggestion of order or books I must read? Thanks! Kelborn
The big fight between the two hasn't happened yet. It will be featured in the Siege of Terra series. We're currently getting part 5 of 8. There are certainly parts you can skip. It depends on what you want to read. Follow certain legions or "just" the overall important arc. Others are more suitable in giving you a more specific recommendation. What I can recommend now is a great timeline done by a fellow member of our community, Tymell. https://sites.google.com/site/tymellsheresy/legion-timelines R_F_D, Gederas, animal310 and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368700-horus-heresy-book-list-up-to-terra/#findComment-5658568 Share on other sites
R_F_D
Wholeheartedly recommend Tymell's list! The Imperial Truth podcast did a couple of episodes (116&117) where they discussed what they thought you had to read and what you could miss: https://theimperialtruth.com/category/episodes/page/4/ You might also benefit from a copy of Visions of Heresy, which is the "background"(?) book to the lore. Claws and Effect
That's one thing you don't really need to spoiler tag, to be honest. Everyone who is a Warhammer fan has known generally how the story goes for many years. The books are mostly just filling in the details in the otherwise Wikipedia-like overview we have of the events of the Heresy. You don't need to read every single one of the books to get the majority of the story. If you find in your reading there are some Legions you just don't care for you can probably skip them. Exceptions being the Sons of Horus, Word Bearers, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, White Scars. The first 2 are crucial to the beginning of the story and the last 3 will be crucial to the end so you should probably get to know a bit about them before you get there.
