Currently the Goonhammer panel have the GK list at the disadvantage - but with an expert GK champion in control...if anyone can prevail it would be him! Can't wait to see the streamed match! Waking Dreamer
Already read that article, was an interesting read for sure. Would love to have met Eric. Very tactically gifted. When I see players of his caliber equip units as I would. It gives me great joy and comfort to know that I think somewhat along the same lines as they do. Well he is known for using underused armies, with underused units in them; and turning them into tournament champions! Consider this list, he is using maximum Purifiers. That's 30 Purifiers. All storm bolters. Do people actually recommend Purifiers? Do they recommend maximum Purifiers...in a tournament winning list? It's not uncommon to have people "persuade" other GK players that Purifiers are "trash" even for semi-competitive lists...that is, if you actually want to win. From his history, this guy has got balls...AND the tactical mind to prove the naysayers wrong....Respect. Skywrath
The player in question (I've been told by my friend) is actually a local at my place. While I never saw him in person, I'll definitely take the time to ask him a few questions about his list, if I see him. While begrudgingly, I'm also leaning towards the category of the 2+ invuln in melee of the purifier, I think we all know that it's intended to be a 3+ invuln even in combat. Side-note: I was in the same tournament, as the guy Liam Hackett was (the ork player in that list). Guy was a monster, and was playing against my DA friend, won against him. Just proves to show to that ingenuity still is king.. I think I might make that my signature from now on come to think of things.. @Waking Dreamer, I think the above analogy applies for every faction, not just Grey Knights haha. As he is a world champion, I think he has other armies that he'll try to do the same for. That being said, the appearance of the GK faction at first glance is deceiving. When I first opened up battlescribe, I thought to myself, well, there is only a set amount of ways this faction can be built, but as time progressed those combinations in a list breeded more combinations to subsequent lists. Just a prime example of looks can be deceiving. But like you, I respect a guy renowed for his ingenuity. Archadeus
I love that list! Vanguard is so Grey Knights and I've been trying to figure out a list that works with it. I'm really excited to see how he does with the least amount of obsec you can have. Im really a fan of the incinerators on the strike squad he's clearly going to insert for a vortex/burn bomb on an objective. He doesn't have a crazy amount of special weapons so I'm really curious as to what tide he plans on utilizing the most. Unless flexibility is his true aim here. Can't wait to see what's in store. Waking Dreamer
For the beginning of the Grey Knights match start at 5hours 30mins. The stream does switch back and forth between the different matches (TTT's Harlequins vs Blood Angels). Of note, the Harlequins list is the undefeated list from TTT, and the BA is what TTT considers the #1 / S-tier army of the meta. Waking Dreamer
Round 2: Grey Knights vs Chaos SM Grey Knights match 3hours 59mins. Grey Knights victory! very interesting. what would you guys change from the list if anything at all? I've been working the past 2 days, so I can't say right now, as I'm catching up on the streams to see the GK list in action. However I'm rather glad that I missed the first 2 rounds live - IF it means I get to see Round 3 (aka SEMI-FINALS!) in action! Only 2 more victories and GKs take the tourney! Gnomeo
Watched the 1st damn eric is good I remember watching the stream when he won a tournament with grey knights before RotD. Haven't watched 3rd. Started and stopped the second dan said he was putting purifiers in reserve. Waking Dreamer
Watched the 1st damn eric is good I remember watching the stream when he won a tournament with grey knights before RotD. Haven't watched 3rd. Started and stopped the second dan said he was putting purifiers in reserve. He clearly does not know them well enough to play mani By Dan and Mani, are you talking about the third game? Mani is a competent GK player as he's played them on the channel before. I thought for sure he would be playing the army as he has the better experience with them. Unfortunately, the alternative army was SoB + Custodes and relatively speaking, is even more complicated than GKs as it is essentially 2 army rules in one. So, since I think he is the more capable player overall, he controlled that one leaving Dan with GKs (which doesn't have the whole new Miracle dice system to work with). I found the second game the most compelling of the 3 (GK vs Chaos SM) imo. In the pervious round (of the Chaos SM vs Orks), only half of a Possessed unit went into combat against Orks - and shredded around 60 Ork Boyz in one turn! It was exciting to see if this bullying / dominating army of 60 Possessed, would rush in and overwhelm the GKs - or crash and break against them! Especially in the table overhead view - it's so great to see this red tide rushing over the map into the silver line of GKs! Gnomeo
Yeah I agree 2nd game was the best. Yeah the 3rd game was a shame hopefully I persuade myself to watch it at some point. Yeah the sprint to the finish in game 2 was great. Archadeus
Game 2 was fantastic, the rhino bait, the positioning and finally the comeback was awesome to witness. It's pretty sad as you just find yourself asking dan why he's doing what he's doing and to please stop.
