Kierdale
I made a post in News&Rumours but thought I’d link to it here. I found a company that makes good, reasonable pre-primed laser-cut MDF (with acrylic inserts for the glowing green bitz): BattleKiwi. Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch
Very nice find, Kierdale. I moved your topic to the Forge, as it didn't quite fit in NRBA, but it's very interesting. Kierdale
I haven’t had chance to watch the vid yet but Black Magic Craft (excellent RPG/wargame terrain scratchbuilder) has a new video in which he makes some Necron terrain: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kUQDw-MZnGM"]https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kUQDw-MZnGM I’ll take a look myself as soon as I can. Kierdale
Weathered up, the ‘Immortal Dynasty Nexus Sentinel’ is done! I painted very thinned down Iron Oxide paint into (some, not all) crevices, and gave it a drybrushing as only the former would have looked like water staining. The drybrush helps to make it look dustier, but only doing a drybrush would have put red dust on edges and not in crevices, which is the opposite of what we want. Dirt’s going to build up in deep parts, not on edges. After gluing it together I hit it with some ‘Mars powder’ (ground up artist’s pastel, which I’ll need to seal when the weather permits). I’m well happy with it. :tu: It was very reasonable and turned out great. I might add an Ork banner, attached with blu-tac so it’s removable, defacing it. ;) I watched the Black Magic Craft video and he was doing a lot of experimenting. I think he himself admitted he might do things differently next time, but I do think the video is worth a watch if you’re interested in making your own Necron terrain, for ideas at least. I have a GreenStuff World textured rolling pin and I might try rolling some foam with that - it gives a reasonable impression - and cutting sections of that out to make some simple terrain. If I do I’ll post it here. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368754-necron-terrain/#findComment-5663149 Share on other sites
Miek
Very nice, thanks for sharing. I've watched the video and it did inspire me for my next terrain pieces and so does your piece. I didn't have any terrain up to a few weeks ago so I've started building several pieces, but they aren't really necron flavored.
