@Brother Lunkhead: What kind of Space Marine do you want for the Hospitalers?

Firstborn or Primaris? (I wrote previously that I offered a Chaplain for painting, but back then I didn´t fully understand the competition, I would

like to keep that one for myself, honestly :blush.: .)

oooooo..... Brother Kyknos, I sooo want that Chaplain....... Just kidding. I think a Firstborn would be most appropriate, as this challenge's article does not take the Hospitallers Militant into the Primaris era.

Thanks for asking. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with:yes:

:blush.: It seems that my pot of Stormhost Silver does not runneth over. I may be able to do the Star Leopard with what little I have left, as it's only the final drybrush step, but if not I'm afraid I likely cannot obtain more before the deadline. I knew I should have double-checked paint inventory before my last shopping trip.

One Thunder Coyotes marine done. He as a mix of normal primaries and vanguard equipment to play into the chapters specialism. Was also a good way to hide some of the damage as the starting body was an ETB marine that got a little mangled.

The skin tone is not as red as it appears, I blame the camera :tongue.:, but it does have a brown/tan/red hue to it in my attempt to get a appropriate skin tone. The eyes however are as bad as they look, I am just no good with them.

The lenses on the goggles, and on the scope, are contrast yellow of silver in the hope of having it look like the yellow lenses from the colour scheme template. It is yellow, but the reflectiveness of the metallic underlay hasn’t really come through, but at least it doesn’t look gold.

It turns out the only yellow I had (apart from contrast) is a nearly dead pot of Sunburst yellow, but I managed to revive a little bit and I think it has come out ok, after about six or seven coats. Also found my old snakebite leather pot and was able to revive a little from it as well for the leather bits. I was a little worried that the browns would blend into each other, but I think it has worked.

I tried free handing the chapter symbol, but I failed badly, so just went over with another layer of brown to even out the shoulder pad.

Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch, I hope he looks acceptable to you.

    :woot: :woot:

He looks very good indeed! Don't worry about the chapter symbol, I can't draw for beans anyway so you didn't have a very good template to work off of.

If it wasn't for the base being somewhat familiar I couldn't even tell it was an ETB!

Finally got some models assembled. In order of appearance:

gallery_36568_16061_113508.jpg

Daimyo's Omega Cohort, Bruce Malcoms Sizerbakc's Scourers, Dosjetka's Imperial Hunters, Doctor Perils Dawn Seers (How the hell am I going to pull off that scheme...) and AHorriblePerson's Strigoi... Don't worry, they will all be based as appropriate. Well, I have a busy few days ahead...

Apologies for my lack of updates, I came down with a pretty nasty ear infection a while ago. I'm better now, though, and so I'd like to present my build for Brother Lunkhead's Liberation Knights:

I don't know whether I'll make it in time as I need to order a few missing colors, so I'll probably be taking the badge of redemption home again! Still, I hope this little dude captures the spirit of the Chapter properly.

Brother Horrible, good to know you're feeling better:yes: That mini looks absolutely awesome, even unpainted:thumbsup:

Sorry for the lack of updates on my projects, but they are coming along nicely. I have a Warp Talon for Brother Argent's White Talons. Basic construction and painting is done, so all I have left are highlights and the base. For Brother D-PL's Dawn Blades I have a Firstborn Marine Sergeant to represent the Chapter proper and a Primaris to represent the Forgechained. I should have all done by week's end. Technical problems have prevented the posting of progress pics, but that should be all sorted out by the end of the week.

Even though I've not been able to put as much time into all this I'd planned, its all been a lot of fun. Good luck to everyone, we're almost at the end.

Great to see the progress so far, folks. :)

I have nothing to show on my end: no energy to do anything after work so I'm hoping this short week of holiday will allow me to complete my vow. Otherwise, like AHP, I'll be gunning for that redemption badge!

Gaaah, got so much to do before sunday XD Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the challenge, the Argent Praetorian is well started, but didn't have access to my chaos models over the last few weeks so haven't yet started on the Black Psalm

Here's a teaser pic for Thorn's Dr. Peril's Dread Lord. Unfortunately his might be the only I finish before the end of the challenge, since the other two require large amounts of paint that I have in short supply and am unable to replace (for some reason my tan has gone mostly dry and I am as yet unsure how to rehab it, and my Stormhost is almost gone thanks to utilizing it for all my chapter veterans like terminators) before the weekend.

No pressure, but I am really looking forward to seeing your Psalmist! :tu:

A WIP of @Brother Argent's Lion Warriors Chapter brother:

gallery_26_548_54818.jpg

I'm experimenting, using brown as the primer instead of my usual black. Humidity has been pretty high around here so I couldn't prime it until today (if I'd been using black, I could have used the airbrush earlier).

I, Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch, vow upon the honor of my chapters the Dawn Blades, The Omega Cohort, and the Thunder Coyotes, to update and repost their articles by a combined total of at least one thousand (1,000) words prior to March 29, 2021. I also vow to complete between one (1) and three (3) miniature(s) of a chapter(s) assigned to me as Dosjetka sees fit prior to May 2, 2021.

May the Emperor and his sons hold me in their favor, and their wroth upon me should I fail, and until my redemption.

It would be a lie to say that I don't like arguing semantics, and a Moderati really shouldn't lie, so...I've completed my vow, with one model completed as assigned to me, Dr. Peril's Dread Lord, Intercessor Cassian.

Painting purple was a bear, let me tell you! Especially with contrast purple only. I'm happy with the result, but the next time I paint a purple model I'm using standard paints.

Brother Kyknos, Honored Reclusiarch, you are not forgotten, I promise you. Both of your models will be complete by the end of May, you just fell victim to lack of sufficient paint to execute the schemes properly, and lack of time to do them justice (shakes fist in general direction of the real world's responsibilities). In the interim I offer you a progress picture, to whet your appetites.

Both vows complete :D

I'll start with the Argent Praetorians' one as I completed him first:

And here's the Black Psalm:

med_gallery_77459_17017_36087.jpegmed_gallery_77459_17017_127113.jpegmed_gallery_77459_17017_74776.jpegmed_gallery_77459_17017_6557.jpegmed_gallery_77459_17017_52401.jpeg

Overall, I must say this was a blast: I had the opportunity to try out some new techniques (basic TMM on the Argent Praetorian) and composition styles (the analogous colour scheme of the Black Psalm). Thanks to everyone :tu:

PS: @DPL: the Dread Lord is looking boss, thanks :tu:

Both vows complete :biggrin.:

I'll start with the Argent Praetorians' one as I completed him first:

Amazing! You nailed it, love the freehand chapter icon too; that's given me a little bit of a push to try doing it myself!

Thanks very much for taking the time to paint this guy; "Brother Perilas" has officially been inducted to the chapter in my IA article!

Time's almost up, folks. Remember the deadline is 23:59 in your timezone. :)

I'll update with the results and event closing at some point tomorrow, once the globe has fully left the clutches of 2nd May 2021.

There have been some very impressive submissions in the past week or so! Well done my fellow Liberites! :tu:

@ Perils - superb freehanding on both the Argent Praetorian and the Black Psalm (super awesome to see one of those in the plastic/resin too!)

@DPL - Oooh, yeah I should have warned you about purple contrast, it is a real mess. I had to paint over my attempt on my Vanquishers last year with Xereus Purple to hide the streakiness of it! :pinch: But despite that, your submission looks brilliant, as a mad Brother who fields a purple army, I know how tough it can be to paint with such a colour.

The assembled and kitbashed models from everyone else looks amazing too, can't wait to see some paint on them later on!

Speaking of paint, I've finally managed to get some time and the drive to break out the paint pots and commit a starting coat onto Brother Argent's Warborne Reclusiarch.

Thus here's a first glimpse of some paint on Reclusiarch Dektis Okores:

med_gallery_26154_4148_57084.jpg

I always found green to be a bug bear of painting, as I ruined my Sons of Medusa a few years back with it being all gloopy and ruining details despite thinning, so I'm trying to be extra careful with this one, I intend to maybe drybrush the next layer of green on to ensure the same doesn't happen. I'll be back at it tomorrow. :D Got some plans on freehanding.

Cambrius

He's not quite finished - the base is still only primer and there are some touch-ups and additions I want to make (like weathering), but he's close enough for government work. Please pardon the crappy cell phone picture, but I forgot to charge my camera battery.

The experiment I had planned was actually pretty stupid because the brown primer would have worked for my normal layering technique, but not for the contrast paints that I was going to use. I've never used contrast paints before so this seemed like a good time to try them out. However, a surprise visit by my in-laws this weekend threw a spanner in my already deep in the land of procrastination plans. And since I had to "fix" the primer to prepare for the contrast paint, I wasted even more time. Also, I'm old and it's getting late.

The highlighting is pretty sloppy (I was rushing), so that is definitely in my touch-up plan. The highlighting on the chest eagle is the worst - it was supposed to be much more black, but it looks silvered.

In keeping with my tradition of finishing at the last minute, I humbly submit my interpretation of Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch's Dawn Blades and Brother Argent's White Talons for Phase 2 of LASC 2021.

First up, the Dawn Blades:

Next up, the White Talons:

med_gallery_49400_16060_301305.jpg

Apologies for the briefness of this post, but I wanted to get it in under the deadline before I fall asleep in my drool:tongue.: I'll reedit tomorrow with context and details. Hopefully, I've had some moderate success in representing these two fine chapters with my poor models.

Oh man, the tension in this image, brother! ‘The :cuss did you just say to me?’ I love the use of actual chain, too, not something I’d ever have thought of!

(I’m also sort of pleased/relieved you made the Sgt a regular Sgt and not a veteran sergeant because I may or may not have forgotten to mention that VSgt’s wear silver armor to mark their status as Samurai )

So due to various excuses and causes this is as far as I got, with two completed minus bases and one completely sorted. If I had had another day or two or even a week (HINT HINT) then I imagine I and many others could have got more done.

Apologies for the atrocious photos but am in a rush. Will get better pics and the others done by next weekend.

Sorry to those whom I missed out but stand by and I will get it done. Just means I may loose my title as Master of Arms this year.
