Thomoski
Hi all, As part of my new Astra Militarum project, I wanted to create some custom-styled units to differentiate them on the field a bit more. Here are some pics of the first 6 recon squad members I've put together. This was my first proper attempt at some modelling and conversions so I'd love some feedback on them! Thomoski
Looking good so far Thanks! Not sure on the paint scheme so far though. My other units have followed the relatively standard cadian scheme, but I'm not sure if I want to attempt a camo pattern for these guys or not. From what I've seen/read, they take forever, but I'm not doing huge amounts of these guys, maybe only a few sqauds in total ever so... But then, what camo to use? Slave to Darkness
Camo can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it, you could go full on peadot madness or keep it simple like this tank. Personally for tiny minis I would keep it simple, you could always go back and add to it when you feel more confidant. DaBoiKyknos
Cool minis! What are the extra bits from? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368899-wip-142nd-regiment-recon-troops/#findComment-5664179 Share on other sites
Thomoski
Thanks! The resin bits are Anvil Industries bergens and boonies, scopes for weapons came from Scion hot-shots and old astartes scout pistols. Everything else is bog standard gaurds walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368899-wip-142nd-regiment-recon-troops/#findComment-5664218 Share on other sites
Thomoski
Got the last four made up, all ready for painting. Will be practicing some camos on a few spares before comitting I think, but will probably keep these lads as a squad for the 12months of hobby this year rather than diving straight in. Recon trooper with balaclava: Hidden Content Grenade! Hidden Content Breacher Hidden Content Last balaclava Hidden Content Favourite out of all of these is probably the breacher, had a ton of fun making a stubby lasgun with a foregrip and I think suits the balaclava the most. I ran out of boonies (only ordered 6 as that's the pack size they come in ???) but I think the balaclavas still work well, especially once painted up. Balaclavas & Bergens from Anvil industries, all other bits from Scions and various IG packs Also trying to improve photograph quality, got a nicer background, but still struggling with depth of field on my phone. Any pointers with that would be super helpful! Bjorn Firewalker
Note: "Grenade!" is the warning that means someone has thrown one AT YOU. "Frag out!" is the warning that means you are throwing a grenade AT THE ENEMY. I like the additions you made to the scouts. To be 100% frank, if its a guardsman throwing a grenade, its entirely possible it is being thrown at you anyway Thanks for the feedback! Did you ever see how Catachans used to have a rule called "Oops, Sorry Sir" where if a Commissar tried to do the summary execution ability, the Commissar died instead? Thomoski and walter h 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/368899-wip-142nd-regiment-recon-troops/#findComment-5665013 Share on other sites
