DA 2K Triple Wing, attempt at competitive

My first impression of the new DA rules led me to think that the way to be most competitive might be to play triple-wing, thus taking advantage of the bonus buff available in each of the different doctrines. This is my first attempt at making such a list.

What is the strategic role of the tactical squads? Even given the premise of taking advantage of each phase, you're stuck spending 270 on your only obsec being 15 tactical marines without any punch, which seems a little risky to me

Looks pretty good, although I would replace the hellblasters with Plas Inceptors. Similar output, more tougher. If you are going down that route, I'd drop Azrael, and the Lt. and replace them with Belial/Sammael (depending on which wing you favour) and add a RW Talonmaster. 

 

The other thing I'd recommend is breaking up those DWT and the RBK into two squads of less than 5 - 5 or more models, you are asking to be blown up with something with the Blast keyword. Also I'd probably replace those assault cannons into something like a CML - assault cannons don't seem to do it, IMO. Or just drop them if you need the points to go down the route I suggested.

 

It just hit me: Why aren't you running this in a Vanguard detachement? That way your Deathwing will become ObSec. In light of this, plug the below into a Vanguard and you are rocking. Also why not go full Deathwing or full Ravenwing?

EDIT: You can include a Watcher in the Dark with those 5 extra points. Alternatively if you want to go all in, you could replace the talonmaster with the strikemaster and give him something like a Heavensfall blade for one extra CP.

I second the idea of splitting the terminators into their own vanguard detachment, though I'm torn on splitting between two squads, given if you are walking up the board you may want the additional duribility. Additionally, taking a ten man means you can combat squads if you want them splitting up, but lets you take an extra pf instead of being stuck with the sgts power sword

Hey Raziel, A good spread of capability and redundancy, how do you intend to run the list?

 

I guess the main thing about the list is that you have alot concentrated into 3 large blobs, both giving you a positive but also a negative? I.e. easier to shut down?

 

You could make some changes like Inceptors to give you some 'fly' mobility, would some adding some armour help though I'm not sure...

 

 

Do you have some secondaries in mind?

To be honest, I haven't given how to run the list a ton of thought beyond putting early pressure on with the Black Knights and keeping it on with the Hellblasters and Terminators castled around Azrael. The barebones Tac Squads are in to sit on objectives and/or take actions as needed. I'd have liked Intercessors for that role, but I'd have had to compromise points elsewhere for that.

 

Swapping the Hellblasters for Inceptors is an interesting idea. The Hellblasters have the virtue of already being in my possession. Though I do already have 3 plasma Inceptors so bulking up the squad would not be hard or overly expensive. But then I'd be apt to drop them out of Azrael's bubble.
