1k Raven Guard army list .... seeking advice and input

My 40k has been really into 1k games lately .... I'm a Blood Angels (12k) and Dark Angels (shelved atm- 8k) collector. I've had a love of Corax and the Raven Guard shortly after I got into the hobby via the HH short stories, novels, and audio dramas. They were actually one of the chapters I was choosing between to get into the hobby with back in the day. 

 

So I'm seriously considering getting a 1k Raven Guard army in the near future for these fun 1k games. Its casual and thematic but we also like to field a competitive army. I know that I want a Vanguard Veteran squad and Chapter Master Shrike to be in it, but other than that I'm really open to advice and input from people who play Raven Guard regularly.

 

So in addition to Shrike and Vanguard Vets, what else should I consider for 1k games?

Add two (or a mix of two ) units of Incursor/Infiltrators. 

 

a unit of Inceptors for fire support. Meta says plasma, I like bolter because of points.

 

 

Next part is tricky because you said competitive . . .

 

 

Aggressors with a Chaplain or Indomitus Lt.. Meta says Chaplain and they ain't wrong. Lt is also fun and buffs wounding in a away that works with Chapter Tactics. Boltstorm is deadlier usually in my opinion. Flamestorm is nice but trickier to use properly if you go second.

I second what Dracos said. Raven Guard chapter tactic works well with incursors or infiltrators. You can get them on good positions within terrain quite easily. You are not going punch as hard as BA, so you need to rely on more on tough units which can survive. Already mentioned gravis units are good, I would also suggest blade guard veterans. They are cheap, have 4++ and shred infantry units to pieces. Though they are quite similar to VV so for the other elite slot I would lean more on boltstorm Aggressors than bladeguard veterans.

I agree with the others, tho I also add that you can never go wrong with a Redemptor.

 

Also running plasma Imceptors near shrike for the rerolls makes them very scary. Love mine.

Shrike and inceptors.though I think of ravenguard as very every infantry based with few tanks.
