Vallejo has two different snow texture products: Ground Textures Snow vs Weathering Effects Snow.  Do you know what the difference between them is, and which one is more appropriate for basing miniatures with?  I would take a wild guess and say the former is for terrain and the latter for bases, but I have no real idea.

I think the clue is in the pictures - the Environment one looks finer. I use the Ground Texture on some bases and that gives a more textured snow effect:

The Environment version is listed as a weathering product, so you'd be applying it in smaller quantity to refine your models/snow. I imagine this will be reflected in the price and quantity also :tongue.: I'd be interested in seeing other snow resources and how they look on models if anyone has them as I'm thinking I need a bit more variety to my snow (especially when I get to the larger bases!) :smile.:

Ive recently been using the Tamiya 'Snow Effect' Diorama texture paint after being recommended by a mate, and so far really liking the results, comes across as decently powdery (although i believe there is also a 'powdered snow effect' version of it as well that i presume is even more powdery!)

You can usually get these decent price/from gaming store, but have linked amazon below for reference.

Snow Effect - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamiya-100ml-Diorama-Texture-Paint/dp/B004AS4FI6

Powdered Snow Effect - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Diorama-Textured-Paint-Powder-Effect/dp/B0042ISUMQ

These arent the best pics but heres some recent mini-knights/titan basing using it (ive not built it up into too large drifts, as looked odd doing that with the scale of the titans):

Just got a reply on Instagram from the official @vallejocolors account, they said the two are the same thing in different packaging.

The Ground Textures jar is 5 times the weight for twice the price so go for that any time I suppose.

As much as I like Vallejo's products normally, their snow product is one that I've seen get less favourable reviews (although, it does depend on the effect you want). Kathy Millat did a good roundup of snow products, which may help:

I think for the average hobbyist, either Tamiya's snow pastes, or AK's "Terrains Snow "topped with Snow Microballoons (example) might be the way to go.

This feels a bit misleading  The big pot is certainly good value at least :smile.: I have been thinking about mixing it up a bit, perhaps using this as the "bulk" but varying some topping with another type of snow so I will be checking out some other snow sources, thanks for the links and info everyone
