So, I have this idea for a semi competitive but mostly fun Ork Freebootaz list;

 

Kaptin Badrukk - decent gun hits on 4's and Flash gitz (including him) reroll 1's to hit

Big Mek with telly porta gun - maybe shoots some stuff but mostly keeps the Morkanaut running.

 

10 boyz 1 with a rocket and a Nob with a rocket and klaw - go around and claim objectives and maybe blow stuff up too

Trukk

10 boyz 1 with a rocket and a Nob with a rocket and klaw - same as above

Trukk

2 units of 10 gretchen - sorta cheap way to get more wounds for the flash gitz and they might accidentally do something else useful too

 

10 Tankbustas in a Trukk - Blowin stuff up. If competitive streak goes off they can hit on 4 + and reroll to hit vehicles!

 

5 Flash Gitz - Maybe in a trukk maybe not IDK. this small unit can try to take out a small target and trigger a competitive streak in the rest of the army

10 Flash Gitz - if they're 'competitive' the kaptin hits on a 2 and rerolls 1's if he's next to Badrukk. the rest hit on 3's

Morkanaut with 'Sparkly bits' and a kustom shield - hits on a 4+ (3+ if his competitive streak goes off) 

 

I think that's about all. It's not very much but if the flash gitz and Morkanaut get a chance, they can do some real damage. The grot shields and kustom shield should help keep the Gitz alive. 

 

Any thoughts?

Very few and expensive boyz. Morkanaught and the tankbustas will be prioritized while the flashgitz are out of range. Most people can deal with 2x10 guys in a trukk and then just concentrate fire on the flash gitz. It does look like a fun list and flash gitz are by far my favorite ork models, I just don't think even in a narrative game that this list would last awhile. Granted my lists tend to do something similar with more toys than boyz(unfortunately flash gitz I categorize as toyz) but this one is especially squishy.

I could try dropping the trukks, the tankbustas and the grots and add in a bunch a more boyz. I'm not even sure if the Mek is all that necessary. I've heard that kommandos are good 'action monkeys'. I could throw some of them in too. Of course, couldn't the Grots pull the 'action monkey' duty too?

I played a game with the list a bit modified from above. I had;

 

Freebootaz 

 

kaptin Badrukk with Kunnin but brutal with an ammo runt

Big Mek in mega armor

weirdboy with da jump and warpath

 

20 boyz - 2 rokkits, nob with kombirokkit and killsaw X 2 mobs

10 boyz - 1 rokkit, nob with kombirokkit and kill saw in a trukk

10 grots x 2 mobs

 

painboy 
5 kommandos x 2 

morkanaut with force field and sparkly bits.

10 flash gitz 2 ammo runts

5 flash gitz 1 ammo runt in a trukk 

I faced off against death guard with Typhus leading and 4 other characters. Lots of grossness on his side. Terminators and poxwalkers  etc… His list was approximately;

 

typhus

a tallyman 

sorcerer

2 other scary characters

 

2 x 3 terminator units in reserve

5 terminators walking up the field

 

10 marines x 2

20 poxwalkers x2

 

2 fleshmower flying doom things

2 tanks shooting indirectly

 

the scenario was priority target

 

Badrukk and 10 gitz went into ruins and everyone else deployed along the battle line and in the force field as much as possible. I held my 2 objectives as well as I could and anytime he came out where I could see him, he got blasted off the board. I kept forgetting to repair my morkanaut though and it blew up eventually. The gitz worked really well in erasing units. Even terminators and characters. That’s about all I can remember at this point. Any thoughts on improving?
