I am more so curious how it survives into the next codex and what will change.

I think we all are, but who knows when that will be? I haven't heard rumblings of anything codex wise for Chaos.

I have tried putting Bile into lists, but I don't like that he really seems to need to be the warlord to really make an impact. They have a great relic, some nice strats...

Early in 9th I did try him with Possessed. Now I'd like to try him with Black Legion, but again I don't like him as a '4th' HQ. So I have tried putting him in his own Partol along side my Black Legion Battalion, but I haven't played it because it looks too unwieldy. Too many points locked up in HQ.

I guess I don't want to design or play a list that is 100% about Bile, but I don't know if it would work to simply include him in my Black Legion. Aside from getting an extra toughness or stat change, he doesn't seem to have any real impact.

Like I said, I tried him with Possessed based lists, and I think he will work best that way, especially once we see the new multi wound variant. But he could be good helping out my BL Berzerker list... I just can't seem to make a list I like.

I used them a little after the Space Marine changes. They were decent. Mutilators excel in a bile army and CSM troops do well because of the high mobility (especially with macrotensile sinews) and strength. Being less wounds for less points wasn't too bad for them in all honesty. Dermal Chitination and macrotensiles are probably going to be used every round, so plan accordingly. I have a thread about them on the second page of this board I think if you want to look at it. I haven't done much in 9th edition and it's been a while, so things might be different now. Bile actually packs a surprising punch, not that you want to throw him into melee, but he does good there in a pinch.

I played a game with them recently using a 20 man Possesed blob, that only managed 7 dead Deathwatch marines with 70ish attacks. It honestly hurt a bit to roll a bucket and have nothing come of it. Other than that, I've used Obliterators, and terminators to some success, and basic CSMs are okay glass cannons, but until that codex releases I don't see much success in the future

Honestly csm should have gotten a big faq once marines got the new stats. Just seems disconnected to have boosted wounds on all flavors of space marines while chaos was left out. Then deathguard get new wounds but tSons and csm don’t. Now tSons getting an update but then you still have csm left out, but what is worse is that you can still take plague marines and rubric marines in the csm book with old wounds profiles. I’d love to see bile and csm in the new book but like thecavan97, why bother right now. So sad.
