If they don’t get Legends rules then I’m sure The Mournival will give us something to work with or some home brew based on the old/new comparison. I’m not against proxying either - has same base size - just need to choose a legal weapon, like multi-melta. Costing the flame storm for zone mortalis is probably the most controversial part, because no-one’s gonna like being on the other end of that. Actually, now I think about it, we might need some home brew conversion of the ZM rules for 2.0?

Great question... thankfully a lot of mine are metal, so I could potentially repurpose the ones I have set for my 30k DG and RG.  As long as they have rules and a place for use in 30k or 40k, I should be happy.  If not, I have enough of them I could just make two opposing armies for friendly fun.

My gaming group in Chicago will use them as proxies for Contemptors. Not sure if we'll be using Mournival rules to field them but we'll cross that bridge if it seems like they won't be getting any rules in the expanded units list through December.

I feel this is something we've known for a long time actually (since 2019 when he took over heresy). Certainly I've mentioned this often Edited May 4, 2022 by Petitioner's City

I know what you mean, few years ago we heard he had taken over as the head of Specialist Games in general, but this is the first time I have seen him designated as HH Lead designer by GW itself, and not just as having oversight over the various games Specialist Games does.

Felt it was a bad move to take him off the Heresy team for specialist games at the time since he actually gets 30k on both the lore and tabletop levels. Obviously no one was foreseeing events back then but definitely a good move having him back in the saddle.

Anuj didn't claim to be the lead designer of new heresy, he said he played a "significant role". But in 2019 it became clear to people at the heresy event that AH had taken over. This was reported by Pendraig on the heresy30k forums.

 

This also means that each team will be expanding considerably over the next two years. This will include new rules writers (2 more for Age of Darkness for example) and miniature designers. As part of the re-structuring, Andy Hoare (ex-Heresy rules writer and head of Specialist Games) is now manager of the Specialist Games Studio and the Age of Darkness studio. This role is extremely new so Andy has lots of ideas but nothing has been put into action yet. From personal experience, Andy is a great bloke who has a lot of experience within the hobby; a clear vision of where the company and the game systems can go and also communicates clearly about what is happening (within the usual limits of GW policy).

I always wondered if Anuj left because there wasn't the advancement he sought, but equally he seems very happy at CA and continues to work with FW, and Hoare, so probably an amicable split.

 

That's true Taliesen about the terminology, but I think for each Exemplary Battle the heresy voice has been Hoare, called at times the head honcho and other terms. He's also the head honcho for the Old World as well as the SG games we all know well :)

 

But yes it's brilliant he is the boss, fully agree he really gets heresy, and heresy was in part his project too. I think also I love how close he is to French, and that he's referenced for necromunda that ideas for it came from the games they played in yesteryear (the law and judgement campaign). I presume this also means Owen Barnes is also working on heresy, although JTY's social media these days feels more old world?

I would bet money the reason Anuj left was because of the poor pay. Even the video game business, which traditionally pays poorly, pays better than GW. Their designers make around 30k a year, hardly a living wage

Same as Tony C has always been to boss in FW but with a lower profile over the years after some "gaffes" and obviously he reports to someone else in the corp but i thought 2nd Ed was Anuj and Neil's work (as part of a bigger team obv) essentially? Especially if its been finished for an age.

I think it's just we have seen Andy talk about Necromunda so much in the last few years, but you only need to look at his instagram to see that he posts about both games, or see posts about his armies on WHC and hang outs on Twitch (with a White Scar Spartan) or other vids there, where he actually introduced the Age of Darkness rulebook. Or indeed see the work he did do, when co-writing the black books, again talked about here "I'm a keen Horus Heresy player":

Also you can see AH talk about AT with Jonathan Taylor-Yorke on the latter's facebook wall in years past, and in other content on AT. Blood Bowl clearly is being supported, again under his leadership, but again taking a wee peak on the wall of JTY you can see it's clearly one of his focuses

Well-met brothers. I have decided to finally start a long dreamt-of project of mine, loyalist Emperor's Children. I might pick up some Mk VIs down the line but primarily the army is going to consist of the earlier marks.

 

I note a ready supply of Mk3 from GW and retailers, but have struggled finding any Mk4, or Cataphractii/Tartaros. I've got a horrible feeling I've missed the boat on these, is there anywhere I can get my hands on Mk4 and would it be a good idea to grab a load of Mk3 whilst we still can?

Ah so perhaps I've timed it well and not badly as I had first feared. If the community is confident Mk3 aren't going anywhere and the others are getting repackaged I shall hold off on the bulk-buying!

Welcome! My prediction is (unboxed) cataphractii will be available for a good price soon because it’s the one thing in the new box that isn’t new, so box splitters will want to shift them.

Depends on where you live. In my city, the living wage calculator puts it about ~36000CAD a year. So 30k isn't a living wage.

30k GBP to CAD is 47.5k. As someone on 15k a year, I'd love to earn 30k a year. Still won't be able to afford anything, but the number would be nice.

Yeah, and the number quoted was in dollars, so its even lower in your local currency if you were thinking GBP. Same job in digital games would make about double. Same job in tech would make closer to six figures.
