Black Knight
A firm redirect from what we are familiar with to full blown dark 40k, I love it. MagicHat
I wonder if people would call it a babycarrier if it was released as a model, but that is just stunning. Black Knight
You could spend all day finding things in that picture. That big model is close to Cawl but not quite the right proportions. In the lore though he does have different exo-suits that he changes into regularly. So it might be him? MajorNese
Sigh...this is what AdMech is about. This is pure awesome. A shame we probably won't get a model for that one, but it is sooooo much better than restricting the artworks to what exists as model. MagicHat
Assuming the skull mask and arms belongs to the tech-priest, I don't think it is cawl, as he only have 1 biological arm left... I think? Today I learned that cawl is a welsh soup dish. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5680991 Share on other sites
Ryltar Thamior
My first thought wasa that this suggests we're moving back away from "we only put into art what we'll make miniatures for" - and that's great, because it means more inspiration for conversions! Some really great stuff in that image - not just the details of the focal point miniature (the praying hands and such!), but you look at seemingly every miniature, it's a character in its own rite. The pointed mitre on one of the chaps with the pikes (or are they lances?) to the left is surprisingly neat. Rreally brings back the Blanchesque feel to the 40k universe with the way they've done this ! But with more of a Kopinski style realization to go with ! walter h, Shinespider, MajorNese and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681000 Share on other sites
Brother Ramael
It is awesome, but if I was a marine and I opened a door into one of those, I'd fire on it on the premise it's chaos Black Knight and infyrana 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681038 Share on other sites
Magos Takatus
I just adore that cover art. Two arms for praying, two for swinging an axe and obviously your fifth rear arm for swinging your spiky incense sphere around. Totally bonkers, I can't wait to pick it up. BassWave
Ooh baby I really hope that is a new Tech Priest. If you look closely he has four arms for praying. Maybe he let's you re roll canticles :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681203 Share on other sites
Marshal Loss
Wouldn't expect a model for this, it's pretty clearly not a direct representation of an actual kit (by the same artist as of one of the new pieces of DG art, which is similarly interpretative). Absolutely stunning art though, a worthy cover Edited March 20, 2021 by Marshal Loss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681234 Share on other sites
Prot
That is the most impactful and beautiful piece if art we’ve had for 9th edition. Yes I’m biased but still...if a picture is worth a thousand words, that piece says a lot about Admech. Xenith
Love the art, it's insane and amazing. Sigh...this is what AdMech is about. This is pure awesome. A shame we probably won't get a model for that one, but it is sooooo much better than restricting the artworks to what exists as model. I dunno, GW tends to prefer stuff you can get in model form to be on the front of books. Exo-suits are also flavour of the month with Primaris and sisters getting them, on top of GK and Tau who already had them. It is awesome, but if I was a marine and I opened a door into one of those, I'd fire on it on the premise it's chaos That's the beauty of 40k, the shades of grey. Like who should an imperial governer accept aid from, the Flesh Eaters or the Emperor's Children? Also, don't forget if you were actually a marine, you'd be used to how weird and alien the AdMech are. One of the reasons they're not fully trusted. INKS
what would the giant model in the middle be? I know it's not likely to even be a model but darn is it cool looking. Magos Takatus
I'd love it to be a generic Archmagos but it's probably just some generic tech priest that's bigger than "normal" for whatever reason. (normal being a very tenuous descriptor for tech priests :p ) walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681629 Share on other sites

The Officer
Truly inspiring! Really reminds how weird the Mechanicus are (and by extension the Imperium as well). I mean, this is what your engineering department looks like, your average IT help desk of the 41st millennium (exaggerating only slightly here). Yeah, awesome stuff, can't wait to see the art inside the Codex! brother_b 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369610-loving-the-new-art/#findComment-5681995 Share on other sites

Kristoff
what would the giant model in the middle be? I know it's not likely to even be a model but darn is it cool looking. When was the last time a central figure on a codex cover was not realized as a model? I mean, he looks like the Ad Mec answer for Isaac Netero, but it wouldn't be that hard to build. Designing rules for them would be the challenge, especially if intended to be unique. Gaz1858
if its not a model then its a great piece of art that shows what the Admech are like in the lore even if they cant really make a model that looks like that If it does become a model its probably gonna be a Walker style thing ala Dreadnought/Dreadknight/Sisters thing whatever its called. I personally hope we get something like that as I do feel its the one thing we are missing. A single unit that can go up the board, take punishment and hit in combat when it gets there.
