I've been out of the hobby for far to long but always kept up with rules and fluff. Thanks to some bad experiences in my personal life, the hobby has taken a back seat, but things have improved and I've found myself wanting to get back to it.

Since the early days of rogue trader when my pops used to play, I've always run marines, Loyalist or heretic. The guard have always looked interesting to me though and after several failed attempts to start up a force I think I've found what I'm looking for. This will be a very slow, slow, slow burn project for me but one that I'm very keen to start.

Here I have (assuming the link works) the start of my guard. An ogryn "bodyguard" that will accompany one of my squads. I know the grenade gauntlet isn't the best option but I like the look of it and want this one to stand out from the other ogryn I have planned. This guy is very much a wip at the moment.

Welcome to the Guard :D This is a good start, a nice kit bash that will make for a very unique Bodyguard. Speed isn't the important part; progress is ;) Have you decided on anything else yet, like the models and colour scheme etc?

Thanks warrior fish! I agree, progress over speed will be the way to go here. So far the list is planned out to a thousand points and mostly vehicles to help keep the painting from getting overwhelming. If it all works out I'll hopefully be adding a battery of basilisk or medusa, a couple small squads of grenadiers, and maybe a kitbashed hydra depending on what's in the bits box.

For painting, I'm thinking of copying Italian armour during the Africa campaign in world war 2.

And as of this morning the bodyguard finally has a head!

And I just realised he doesn't have any way of reloading... I may add a servo skull and some extra rounds to the base to solve that little problem.

Thanks Duz! For the moment definitely more building. There are still a few things I'm waiting for in the mail before the painting begins but hopefully soon!

Not sure about a baneblade but maybe a stormlord later down the line. Can't say no to the ultimate party bus!

Well paints and brushes should be arriving soon. As well as bits from anvil and wargames atlantic so I can start on some infantry.

In the meantime I've found a treasure trove of bits hiding out along with what might have been a basilisk. From the looks of things I'm thinking it was meant to be a salamander but was abandoned to the depths of the closet. So after scrounging around and a quick order for some missing pieces I've put together my version of a chimerax.

There's a few more things I'd like to add but for the most part I'm happy with the results.
