Hi everybody,

I am an old player of W40K, I have player 3rd and 4th edition.

Now that my daughter is older, I have time to paint, and (hopefully) play sometimes.

In 3rd and 4th edition, I was playing Blood Angels, full assault with death company.

With the 9th edition, I bought the Indomitus Box and while I will still play Space Marine, I have found the necrons quite interessting.

So, this is my first draft of a Necron Army, mainly build on warriors.

I like the feeling of an unstoppable walking army of dead robots :smile.:

The army is built in four different forces:

  • Main Force : Imoketh, Technomancer, 5 Lychguards, 2 x 15 warriors with gauss flayer, Canoptek Doomstalker
  • Defensive Force : Overlord with Orb, 15 warriors with gauss flayer, 2 x 3 Canoptek spiders
  • Assault Force : Skorpekh Lord (with Vanquisher's Mask), Chronomancer, 4 Skorpekh Destroyers
  • Reserve Force : Royal Warden (with Veil of Darkness), 15 warriors with gauss reaper

The battle plan is to hold and Objective with the Defensive Force, push with the Main Force on an objective, and with the Assault Force on another one, and use the Reserve Force to "teleport" where needed. I intend to use MWBD three times per round, with the Sautekh abilty to Rapid Fire at 18''.

The Hexmark Destroyer will be in reserve, ready to teleport if the ennemy deep strike somewhere, just to be a nuisance :smile.:

Do you think that my army is viable ?

Thank you

PS: Sorry if i made some mistakes, English is not my primary language...

Looks to be a pretty solid wall of bodies.

Just my suggestions. Reduce 2 15 warrior squads to 10 and boost 2 to 20. It‘lol boost survivability of your lead units and give you back objective holders.

One Doomstalker will more likely then not disappoint you. I’d suggest replacing it with a Triarch stalker, who can also give you some rerolls to hit.

With only 5 lychguard, I’d suggest going sword and board. While their punch is strong, it’s an easy target to wipe with dedicated fire like plasma inceptors or eradicators.

The force you’ve built doesn’t actually want to separate too much into components. I think you should consider it a big wall of walking death that works together with overlapping fire. It can zone out most of your deployment and then push mid board early, trying to hold most of the objectives and force your opponent to come at it all at once. And then things like the royal warden and veil of darkness can pull your shooting units out of combat as needed and your Skorpekhs can counter charge to take back objectives.

I think the hexmark has an interesting meta play to it. It’s a good unit for denying scramblers in your deployment zone. Most armies aim to DS a unit turn 3 and are utilizing msu squads that are often T3 or 4. Outside of 2w units like marines, I feel like it’s ability to counter DS and shoot or, if on the board, auspex scan within 18” is pretty good.

That said, outside of that ability it may struggle to do much. Although against DE with the MW flame relic it may again have a good use clearing their t3 witches and stuff.

Thank you very much.

I will keep your advices in mind :)

I will defintively take a look to the Triarch Stalker, I haven't seen the abilty to reroll 1's for other units.

It could be a nice boost to my shooting warriors.

Have a good day !
