It's a case of utilising them correctly to how your army can get the best from the unit. As a lone assault force, they'll be the first unit dead, which can be used to your advantage of course. I recommend using Vanguard with other attacking elements, like those that might be going for objectives. Use Jump Packs and throw Storm Shields in there and you'll have a fast moving unit of difficult to remove Troops who can kill units too. A unit of VV are in it for a good CC counterpunch along with the Champion and a unit of Blade Guard Vets. Frater Cornelius Posted April 11, 2021 Share Posted April 11, 2021 You could consider running your UM as Emperor's Spears. Their bonus Stratagems are pretty good and synergize well with VV. Just don't overcommit on melee. UM are still a balanced army and can't hold a candle to BA or SW when it comes to pure melee.
