sairence
So I have a game against a friends Craftworld and came up with a funky little list thsat just made me chuckle when I typed it out. We have first a Lambdan Lions battalion. 1 Primes, one with Keys to the Armoury trait and tactical reliquary relic. Aradia Madellan. 5 squads of 10, all with Vox and 4 Volleyguns. 1 command squads with 4 flamers. Then a Patrol of Iotan Gorgonnes. 2 Primes, one with Progeny-strat to get the sanctified spirit trait. 2 squads of 10 with 4 Meltas 2 Command squads with Plasma And finally a DKoK-Patrol 1 Rider commander 1 scion squad 2 10 man Engineer squads 2 squads of 10 Death Riders The list also includes Greyfax and Eisenhorn + Daemonhost for debuffing, disruption and general psychic support. The Lions mostly start on the board to grab objectives. The Hotshot-weapons will take advantage of the MWs on 6s to wound strat as well as the +1S strats where needed. The Command squad will drop somewhere where AP-1 flamers might be useful. The Gorgonnes drop down turn 2 and 3, with the Melta squads using the daring descent strat to drop in melta range and the plasma to go outside 9 for some extra bang. The Death Riders will rush forward and body block, while the Engineers make use of the Grenadiers strat to blanket stuff in gas bombs. Aradia is mainly in there because I can't take a 4th Prime and I don't need any Lord Commissars with the Inquisitors and the auto-pass strats. Should be fun and very different from what I usually would field. :) Edited April 3, 2021 by sairence Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/369814-4-saves-for-everyone/ Share on other sites
Commisar Necros
This list is just rude and I like it. The korp can rush and hold objectives, while the main body kills and holds the back field. Then the deep strike stuff fills in wherever there is a gap, and all those psykers can cause a lot of mortal wounds. Its an all infantry list that just can't be brushed away with bolter fire. Odd man out though, why the flamers in the command squad? sairence
Because deepstriking Flamers with AP-1 from Lions are cheap and nasty when deployed against some squishy objective holders and can operate pretty much on their own. In the game where I tried this list they got 20 hits out of deepstrike and straight up tripple overkilled a squad of Guardians. But they were more of a "I had the points" type of choice as I'd already gotten all the other elements I wanted. And Scion infantry lists can actually be pretty limited when you can only bring 3 Primes. The game didn't actually go so well for me, the main issues were that the Volleyguns needed to shuffle around to get targets a lot which diminished their effectiveness and there was nothing in the list to deal with well-screened non-LOS weapons, in this case three D-Cannons. Also, once my opponent was past the Death Riders there was no other durable melee threat to stop him from messing up the backline, which two units of Singing Spears basically managed from turn 2 on. Then again, it did play against a pretty high-powered expert crafters list which is probably not the best matchup. I think the way to improve it would probably would be to cut a few things and add a blob of Bullgryns to follow the Death Riders up. Commisar Necros
Makes sense. I have a vet squad in the line for something similar and had debated putting them or meltas in a Valk. Maybe change the patrol to an outrider and take another cav unit instead of bullgyrn to keep a theme consistent. Without mortars of your own, or vehicles, those back units are going to be a problem. Maybe a valk? I don't know what to cut to add it, but could get around the terrain. And on the list vs thing, I had my first match against orks like that. Its harsh, but you gotta have a counter ya? Do you have the minis to split up the squads a bit? Then maybe be able to keep some more stationary(relatively) and have a few more plasma pistols on tempestors. But also now just a 5w unit that's easy to take out so not sure if worth the trade. sairence
I don't have a good few of those minis at all. :D Pretty much all my games in the last 12-18 months have been online through Tabletop Simulator. :P Most of my actual Scions have Plasmaguns...definitely need some more Meltas and Volleyguns at some stage. Commisar Necros
Same. I just got to play a couple with friends in their garage once we all got vaccinated, and going for more monday. TTS is cool to try things out. Its not perfect, but awesome at finding issues and how to resolve em.
