I've started down the road of building a smallish Night Lords warband. Thanks to ADB's Night Lords trilogy, I've become a fan of the Night Lords. I suspect the same thing occurred to many of you.

I wanted my Night Lords to have a really dark blue for their armor, "In midnight clad". I'm happy with the current look (see below) of how dark the armor is. Since the Night Lords specialize in terror tactics, I thought it'd make sense to have them able to hide in the shadows, ready to ambush their prey.

I'm going to focus on a warband that can strike fast and be mobile. I'll be having a small basic squad in a rhino, lots of raptors and some terminators. I'll also use lots of chain weapons (my group agreed that I can use chainglaves 'counts-as' chain axes), flame throwers and lightning claws. The idea being that the Night Lords like to use weapons that instill terror - fire & chain weapons seem like good ways to instill fear.

Any input on how to paint lightning bolts better would be appreciated. Also, any C&C is also welcome.

Great start!

Thank you, Burias!

Really nice! How did you make the blue armour?

Thank you, Johanhgg!

I used Vallejo Model Air - Signal Blue for the base coat. Then I used Vallejo Game Air - Ultramarine Blue for a zenithal highlight. I then used Drakenhof Nightshade to darken the zenithal highlight and tie it together with the base coat. Finally I did a limited amount of stippling and edge-highlighting with GW Macragge Blue to bring up some detail on parts of the armor.

Great looking models. Looking forward to seeing some Raptors!

Thank you, techsoldaten. I have begun work on the Raptors and some other units.

I finished 3 members of my first Terror Squad and the Exalted Champion with jump pack (house-ruled to be ok)

Some SoH Reavers that I'm using as NL Chosen (didn't realize they'd be so small so I put them on cork bases)

New models are looking good! Nice use of the Contekar

Also, oof, the SoH Reavers are tiny,. I can tell that just from the image :ermm:

Thank you, Gederas. I really like the Contekar terminators but since I don't play 30K I had to change up the weapons on the models. And yeah, I was pretty bummed at how small the SoH Reavers are.

Lovely work! Your models ooze character.

Thank you!

I finished up the last member of the 5-man terror squad. I tried to make the model seem sadistic (just a typical friendly Night Lord).

Now on to my first batch of Raptors.

I've been slow to update here but still have been painting my Night Lords. Here are 5 30K terminators that I swapped out weapons to make them 40K compatible. I've also finished 15 raptors. I'd like to get at least 5 more done. After that I need to work on a squad of Chosen, a rhino and a contemptor dreadnought.

I'll be playing against my friend's SoB army. Wish me luck!

Wonderful models! I really like the flayed skin. Good luck in your game against Sisters of Battle.

Thank you, Tallarn Commander.

I took a little break from painting Night Lords so the 5 raptors that I have planned are still sitting in an unopened box. I did however manage to complete both a contemptor dreadnought and a rhino.
