Mornin' all.

I wrote a complaint to the advertising standards authority over the kill team kill zone nonsense and got this response this morning:

"Thank you for contacting the Advertising Standards Authority. I’m sorry to learn that this matter has caused you concern.

We’ve assessed the ad you highlighted and from the information we have, we think the ad is likely to have breached the Advertising Codes that we administer and have therefore taken steps to address the issue. We have explained your concerns to the advertiser (without revealing your identity) and provided guidance to them on the areas that require attention, together with advice on how to ensure that their advertising complies with the Codes.

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns with us. Comments such as yours help us to understand the issues that matter to consumers and we will keep a record of your complaint on file for use in future monitoring. If you would like more information about our complaint handling principles, please visit our website here."

Nicely done, 01RTB01, and thank you for sharing the e-mail reply with us.

Personally, I sent an e-mail to GW customer service raising the issue but didn't get anything beyond the standard reply.

Thanks for sharing this 01RTB01; unsurprisingly, GW haven't responded or made any acknowledgement of their error. I wouldn't be surprised if some poor member of their community team loses their job over this - they'll just have been doing what they were told (e.g. use a picture of the terrain sets), but won't have had it communicated to them that these weren't the same as before. Either way, GW's internal communication should have been better.
  • 2 months later...

GW would not like information like this to be spread far and wide... under the rug please, nothing happened here...move along... lets get back to making money... :dry.:

well done for sending the complaint in, they need to be kept in check...
