Does anyone here play crusade? My FLGS is starting one tomorrow and I plan to attend. I’m using my space wolf successors with whirlwind and born heroes. I noticed in the BRB there is a weapon upgrade that can be taken giving additional hits on unmodified 6s. Is it a jerk move when they earn a trait if I give that to one of my badass characters? This would effectively give them 4 hits on unmodified 6s in assault doctrine. otherwise nothing I’m my crusade army is OP. I don’t even currently have any antitank. Is the potential god mode amount of attacks from either of these guys too much. Edited by TheUnlikelyGamer84

As someone who initially made a fluffy Crusade list for his gaming group’s campaign, a killy single character isn’t a big deal while no anti-tank is a huge deal.

I had to add Eradicators and outflank them after a few games. The Guard player had two tank commanders, the Ork player had a bunch of biggies and Truks, etc. Just brutal against my Phobos units and Intercessors.

I agree I need to find a balance. My first two 500 point games I tabled my opponents. The Wulfen and blender lord were marvelous. But I can honestly say that having the small combat patrol board size and decent terrain is why I successfully, and mostly unscathed, made 1st turn charges. I understand that larger boards with shooty tanks that can reach out and touch me will be my undoing. I’ll try and get a few more games at 500pts before we go up to 750 next month and see how I fair. Then I’ll decide whether to take my eradicators or just sprinkle in some antitank. I don’t want all my opponents to feel like crap after we play that’s not the point of crusade. My biggest weakness the last two games came against the harlequins. They put a lot of mortal wounds on me. They killed 4 Wulfen with two psychic powers and some kind of grenade in turn 1. This... makes me want to play crusade.... ;__; I'm so ashamed

I’m not going to say it didn’t make me smile while it was happening . But the look on my opponents faces afterwards gave me feel badsies too. The traits my units earned afterwards rolling in the tables were cool also. Wulfen got fleet of foot out of BRB. They are now +1 move, Adv and charge. The lord got the Wulfen trait out of our codex giving +1 att and +2 if he’s near the Wulfen. So 9attacks on charge near Wulfen before rerolling for 6s to hit looking for those double exploding hits. Pretty sick Edited by TheUnlikelyGamer84

I had a feeling wulfen would retain use even after their codex nerfs. That profile plus the re-rolling charges is hard to pass up. I suspect partly why they got hit so hard is we are going to get some kind of primaris wulfen later one which will be bigger and meaner somehow.

Honestly, wulfen were too good in 8E. They feel like they should be irregular troops, not elites.

IIRC, aren't all current wulfen originating from the 13th Company that appeared as part of 8E lore?

No, many SW succumbed to the curse after fighting alongside the 13th Wulfen.

Not to hijack- I was thinking about this too, do you think they will rerelease Bran Redmaw?
