Had an ongoing force now of Tempestus and knights for quite a few years now. Fluff is they are part of Inquisitor Hector Rex's entourage and are permanently attached. The knights are remnants of a force in a battle the inquisitor fought in and he inducted them. In my all tempestus force Hector himself makes an appearance.

This is the heavy force without the Rex-man and I don't know where I would put him even if I found the points.

Knight superheavy detachment

Knight Atropos- Warlord with WT Ion Bulwark(so I am not wasting a CP every round for ion shields)

Arminger Helverins x2

Arminger Warglaive with melta

Tempestus Battalion - Lambden Lions

Tempestor rod of command, laurels of command. progeny of conflict: Keys to the armoury

Tempestor Rod of command Refractor field generator

Tempestor Rod of command

Scions x5 2 plasma + plasma pistol

Scions x5 2 plasma + plasma pistol

Scions x5 2 plasma + plasma pistol

Scions x5 2 plasma + plasma pistol

Scions x10 4 volley guns

Scion Command squad 4 melta guns

Scion command squad 4 melta guns

Scion Command Squad 4 flamers

2 Valkyries with rocket pods and heavy bolters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tempestor with progeny of conflict ride with 2 melta command squads in valk

Tempestor with field sits with volleygun team on an objective somewhere

Last tempestor will be a floater with two of the squads.

Meanwhile knights do knight things with the Hellverins sitting back playing fire support while the Atropos and the warglaive jog forward. I likely would reserve at least two of the plasma squads. The flamer squad is one of those useful if I need it otherwise it captures something units. 4 Deepstriking 12" -1 AP flamers are kind of nice for hordes even if it doesn't take advantage of their BS. They can always raise a flag or something.

Knights and Scions are always fun lists to play. It's two very all or nothing armies, which can make for an interesting dynamic.

I'd tweak a few things myself though:

First off all I wouldn't make the Knight the WL, because that makes Cut off the head a viable secondary. Use the Knight strat to give gim a WL-trait and make one of your Primes the WL. You either save Progeny or you can hand out a second trait to one of your other Tempestors.

Secondly, I'm not sure the Lions are the best choice here. With half your Scions dropping from Valks, the +1 to hit after disembarking trait might be a better fit. Ignoring the penalty for moving with heavy comes with that I think and is helpful for your Volleys as well.

The reroll 1 bubble is obviously grat, but you can kinda replicate that with the Laurels of Command to stack orders. The 5++ relic I don't really rate that highly if you don't use it yo protect a firebase of Taurox Primes. Your infantry is squishy and will die to concentrated small arms, a 5++ isn't going to change that fact. And the extra AP doesn't matter too much for Plasma and Melta, because either it goes through anyway or your opponent has an invun.

And finally, I would probably run 2 Warglaives and 1 Helverin with this. You have good shooting anyway, but you need to keep your opppnent distracted from it. Robots in their face are a good way of doing that.

Seems like a fun list! I've run similar lists myself in the past - scions, knights, and an inquisitor for psychic support (and fluff).

If you're looking for recommendations and feel like switching up your regimental doctrine I would suggest taking a look at the iotan dragons. This gives you a 6inch range bump on all rapid fire weapons. This will make it much easier to get all of that plasma in rapid fire range and in a more defensible position. Scions out of cover are dead scions. Plus, the warlord trait is a bonus - ignore cover on one unit within 18 inches. That's nothing to sneeze at. Basically a free astropath. This can make a huge difference when shooting at something like marines in cover. They go from shrugging off half of your plasma hits to only saving a third.

That said, lambdan lions are super cool and if you're having fun with them, keep it up! I'm looking forward to seeing some battle reports.
