Noserenda
So a friend of mine is looking to get started on the game and for a couple of reasons (mostly them being incredibly stubborn :D ) they want to field an all Cerastus knight house, happy with any of the four Cerastus loadouts but just them. Now personally id just say go pure Lancer but id be interested to hear what the community thinks, especially as i dont have the paywalled Atrapos card, especially given the chanegs to knights with banners and allegiance since i last got to play! Suggested lists would be great too if people are feeling keen, we usually play 1750. Sherrypie
If you go all Cerastus, fielding mostly Lancers is probably a good bet since your shooting game will be rather weak. Acherons and paired Castigators make more sense in conjunction with actual artillery pieces like Acastoi in tow. Mandragola
To be honest I'd try pretty hard to persuade your friend against this dreadful plan. If you fail, then for sure lancers are mostly the way to go. The Atrapos does have a place as well and it probably makes sense to put some Acherons in the Seneschal's banner, because you can. But an army of one unit spammed will always be extremely boring to paint and play with. Try to persuade your friend to do something else. Noserenda
Trust me, this is someone ive known for decades and they wont change their mind without doing it themselves, im pretty confident they can do 15-20 models without losing the plot but i suspect theyll end up buying different stuff down the line organically.I figured people might like the challenge of making their obstinate phase a bit more fun :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370131-all-cerastus-knight-house-army-help/#findComment-5694844 Share on other sites
Mandragola
Fair enough. They'll get into the game and can then do a proper army. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370131-all-cerastus-knight-house-army-help/#findComment-5694950 Share on other sites
Trokair
While I don’t play this (though I would give it a go if I can find local players) the idea of a knight themed army does appeal (havening 30 or so unbuilt knights (mix of classes) that will probably be converted into a 40k army sitting in the cupboard). From my limited understanding of the rules Lancers en mass are probably the best bet, as others have suggested. Get him to share pictures when it is built, it will be glorious to see. I would suggest trying to show him that the other knights have a role as well. If it is an aesthetic choice maybe let him proxy an Acustus banner for a few games. Long ranged fire power has its use. schoon
Yeah, I know the type, so you may as well resign yourself to seeing it on the tabletop. However, you could have him proxy the force with empty bases after a few of the Lancers are painted, and see what learning might or might not happen...
