A.T.
As the others moved forwards Odysseus turned his attention to the nearby xenos - while the machines were likely of simple mind the creatures on the walls were unknown to him and best not left to offer surprise. Flicking a grenade up behind the massed group he moved to intercept them as the scrabbled away from the blast, burning them from the walls along with any of Von Caeryds collection that drew his flame. Frag grenade into the horde25 to hit, blast 4 explosive = 5 hits Damage: 13 / 15 / 21 / 17 / 11 - all wounds Flamer into the horde 4+5 automatic hits, cannot fail to wound so 9 hits. Total of 14 magnitude damage, all directed at horde #2 Odysseus moves to the south east with both actions flanking Kai and Brynjarr and putting a little extra distance between himself and the other two hordes -he can move up to 18m before using the flamer(may need to move less to keep the horde in range) and then up to 6 after but he won't overrun Kai or engage the ambot. Beren
Svelk watched as his perfectly timed grenade detonated just above the automata's head, obscuring it for a moment in a flash. Some of it's oculars seemed cracked, the plating around them buckled. A moment later a chunk was torn our of its arm. Despite this, it strode through the flames and explosions caused by the Krak grenades of his fellow astartes seeming to bear little further damage. Just a little closer. Out of krak grenades, he drew his bolt pistol and snapped of a shot.. He'd have liked to take a moment further to aim, but he hadn't the time he was going through with the plan. Called Shot (head) against Ambot B Target Number: BS43 +5 (lead by example) -20(Called Shot) + 20(Enormous)= 48 d100: 81 (Failiure) Svelk grimaced as he saw his shot streak over the Ambot's head and punch into the wall behind it. What is left crumples, leaking oil and other fluids all across the crimson carpet. The other Ambot continues to advance despite it's own previous wounds, showing animal cunning as it moves further into the centre of the room, using the tall display cases to shelter its damaged bulk. But perhaps the greater danger is not before you. Even as their brethren flee the brutal effects of Odysseus' flamer, the final brood of Loxatl unleash their flechette blasters at your unprotected rear. Another deadly monomolecular hail is spat forth, sweeping across the breadth of the Stateroom and cutting viciously into the backs of the fire team on the right flank. Trokair
The barrage of krak grenades had clearly staggered the Ambot, but it was still up and coming from them. Behind them the distinguish whoosh of a flamer coming to live reassured Brynjarr, Odysseus had their back. Uttering a prayer under his breath Brynjarr took his axe in hand and charged at the mechanical brute. Its armoured bulk made for a easy target, but the rugged construction and armoured plate could easily shrug of a blow even for an Astartes, he would have to find weakspot. Closing the distance Brynjarr feinted as if to duck under the Ambot’s sweeping arm, instead, as the Ambot tried to recalibrate it exposed its head. Seeing the opportunity Brynjars jumped, shield forward and collided with the Ambot other arm, with the path clear the ax found the mechanical skull and bit deep, severing some internal connection. The Ambot staggered back from the impact, but instead of retaliating it crashed into the display case behind it and came to rest. Beren
The room around Svelk is a flashing and roaring tumult. He sees one ambot battered into shutdown by a torrent of bolter shells from Decimus, the other slain as Brynjarr makes a bold charge and buries an axe in it's face-plate. He sees Decimus again, this time caught in the glittering cloud of monofilament munitions, armour scored and blood seeping through the exposed and shredded joints, no longer sealed away from the void. Svelk glances towards the window. The nearest airlock was likely the one Brynjarr had discovered, but they had no idea of the external terrain between here and there, and Decimus had admitted to being inexpereinced in void manouvers... Besides, the way things were going, using the melta bomb might be a needless waste. Swap out bolt pistol for combat knife. Spend fate point for cohesion to enable Bolter Assault. Call Bolter Assault. He drew the pin, and held it, counting down softly within his helmet. A moment later he flung it upwards and watched it detonate in the air just below the larger Loxatl group, shredding severl with shrapnel and causing their limp corpses to fall. Before they had even hit the floor Svelk had drawn his combat knife and was kicking off the ground. He felt the ceiling buckle as he slammed into it, off target. He buried the tine of his axe-rake and the blade of his combat into the surface, anchoring himself for a brief instant while he reorientated himself. Then, as the surface began to splinter but before he could fall, he triggered the jump pack again, hurtling horizontally across the ceiling and straight through the cluster of hissing tongues, scaled hides and clawed limbs. He lashed out with both weapons as he did so, feeling both bite into flesh even as his momentum carried him into and through the position of a Loxatl that had found itself in his trajectory. When he hit the ground seconds later, it was amidst a hail of bodies. Prepared for the impact, he was on one knee and burying the axe-rake in the body of one that had landed, still-alive, besides him before it could recover. A.T.
The call for one final push was made. Shouldering his flamer Odysseus snapped off a shot from one of his Dioscuri at the scattered xenos but his eyes were on Von Caeryd. Moving swiftly he flanked the pretender to the throne of this domain, he would run no further. Single shot from the Naval boltgun.BS42+10 = 52 for short range, roll to hit = 68 - a miss unless the horde is still worth +20 to hit Odysseus moves 18m east which should take him almost all the way to the door there, and in position to deal with Von Caeryd if no-one else does. Trokair
Moving towards the Princeling, before another plasma bolt could couse further damage, Brynjarr glanced at the tactical display and towards the rest of the squad. The xenos mercenaries had been much reduced in number, but enough remained to still be a problem for the unwary. Scorch marks and smoldering bodies showed where the flamer had claimed its toll. Closer still Svelk was preparing his jump pack, no doubt intending to engage the xenos above him, time to distract them from the charging marine with another frag grenade. Black Cohort
pausing briefly to let the barrel of his heavy bolter cool slightly, Decimus whips out his bolt pistol to fire a shot at the horde while he relocates toward Von Caeryd. Hate seems to be guiding his focus, as the single round takes down two more of the beasts. Lysimachus
+++STRUCTURED TIME ENDS NARRATIVE TIME BEGINS+++ Von Caeryd's final defences have been utterly destroyed, not to mention many of his priceless treasures. As the last of his xenos guardians are wiped out, he reveals his coward's heart, casting aside his pistol and ducking down into the shadow of the farthest plinth. He scrabbles on hands and knees along the floor between ruined display cases, uncaring of the glass shards that cut into his fine clothes and skin alike, seeking only escape. But it is too late. An armoured boot halts his progress. Von Caeryd looks up to find himself surrounded by grim-faced, grey-clad Astartes, each bloodied but unbroken. He begins to whimper. *** Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370180-to-plunder-the-stars-themselves-episode-iii/page/18/#findComment-5724401 Share on other sites
Necronaut
Vesalius stalked across the glass-strewn, blood-splattered chamber, his combat blade in hand. He knelt briefly to retrieve Von Caeryd's plasma pistol, safely stowing it away on his person, before continuing to advance upon the whimpering, cowering human. +You are ours now, Von Caeryd,+ Vesalius gloated evilly. He grabbed the self-styled prince by the throat and activated the saw blade on his narthecium menacingly before tracing a line down Von Caeryd's cheek with his knife, behind which blood welled up to the surface. +Now then, what tribute do you have to offer Talek Varn? You are quite behind on your payments, Prince, and my associates would as soon see you flayed alive as dragged off in chains...+ Intimidate test: WP47Intimidate: 1d100 29 Success (1 DoS) Edited July 29, 2021 by Necronaut Lysimachus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370180-to-plunder-the-stars-themselves-episode-iii/page/18/#findComment-5724412 Share on other sites
