Mazer Rackham
Beta: With the sound of ceramite grinding and scraping rockrete, Orphiel climbed up over the parapet to the staring helms of the Retributors. Eschewing the firepower at his disposal, he gripped Zachariah's Steel and his wing-hilted dagger. The wind howled, a flurry slapped meltwater snowflakes into his armour to trickle down the plate in rivulets, coating his hands and weapons before falling to the snow, even here flecked with blood, the winter pelt of a mountain Panthera. ++Retire now,++ he told them, as steel rasped through velvet lined scabbard throats, ++or die for nothing.++ He let the vox carry the sadness in his voice, knowing what they would likely do, but he had to give them the chance. Their choice dictated his actions. Quod Ergo Demonstrandum. Ultimatum given, Orphiel marched onwards. No charge, no grand leaps or flurries. Just a grim inexorability and the shimmer of unfettered blades. He felt the void's chill in is bones as Odysseus' fell light flickered out from the bridge, tearing into the sisters. A.T.
The psychic fire lingered, scoring the sides of the vehicles with eldritch power and yet the sisters advanced through it. Their wards were impressive indeed, and while Odysseus did not doubt he would break through in a contest of wills the sisters seemed eager to make this a contest of arms. As more shells and flames lapped against the kine-shield Odysseus drew the ambient energy inwards fortifying himself, wounds and armour alike closing over and hardening ready for the sisters charge. Another call went out for grenades. He carried but one, and had eyes for a singlular foe. Necronaut
Squad Alpha He had their leader, the Cannoness, dead-to-rights. He knew it in his marrow: even the greatest marksmen of his chapter would have praised his accuracy, the poise and patience with which he lined up the shot. But as any veteran of armed conflict knows, a battlefield is nothing short of distilled chaos. By some quirk of fate, or a gust of wind from the encroaching storm, or perhaps the hidden hand of some transcendental being, Vesalius' bolt traced its parabolic arc to its terminus mere centimeters wide of its intended target and detonated harmlessly against the thicker adamantine armor plating adjacent to the Cannoness's head. For six agonizing seconds, the apothecary sat there dumbfounded as the enemy leader continued to draw breath in miniature through Trypanon's scope, unharmed and resolute in her determination to prosecute the band of heretics occupying her keep. +How-?! Why-?! It was perfect-- I had her--,+ he spluttered over the squad-vox. +What unholy power protects these infernal witches?!+ He growled to himself, ignoring the injury data pouring in for the rest of the kill-team, and cocked Trypanon again, sending an empty bolt casing spiraling madly into the snowstorm. The Cannoness, meanwhile, in her powered exoskeleton, lurched forward, following the advancing column of her troops over the bridge, howling a warcry into the fury of the wind. Suddenly, across the chasm, a great slab-shaped aircraft cut through the air, banked hard before the main gate, and was off again, its thrusters briefly lighting up the far side of the bridge. Vesalius was momentarily distracted by the abrupt arrival of the shuttle, and could scarcely believe his eyes when the life-runes of the three absent members of Cutlass appeared in his HUD with all the ceremony of a dropped slab of rockcrete. Before he could process the new inflow of information, much less demand an explanation, the Seraphim were upon him, swooping in from on high like raptors closing in on their prey. Distracted as he was, he barely managed to turn aside a killing blow from their leader, muscle-memory and countless years of combat training saving his life. Noticing her out of the corner of his eye, he raised his arm at the last instant, and deflected her arming sword away from his throat, feeling it slice into the gap in his armor at his elbow instead. The warmth of spilled blood flowed over his arm; a red rune appeared, indicating a minor armor breach. Binding her blade up in his armor joint, he let Trypanon drop with a clatter at his feet, then calmly drew his bolt pistol and amputated her right leg at the hip with a pull of the trigger. The explosion from the bolt round sprayed bone, blood and ceramite onto the adjacent wall and his grey armor in equal measure. He let her fall with a sickening thud to bleed to death without sparing her another thought; her vitae coated his ceramite greaves and mingled with the freshly fallen snow, hissing softly in the frigid night air. Her arming sword was freed from his armor with a brief screech of protest and tossed over the wall, while he coldly watched her sisters descend upon him on wings of fire. As the remnants of the Seraphim came vaulting over the parapets, Vesalius produced his own blade and met them with deft, surgical thrusts into the gaps in their armor. His knife lashed out again and again, each time returning painted arterial crimson, followed by shrieks of agony and rage. Twin black pools of unblinking, unfathomable malevolence stared out from within his beaked helm, sparing no time for the carnage he wrought, only assessing threats and vulnerabilities at superhuman speed. He concerned himself not with his own survival while he plied his bloody trade, only dimly registering when the swords of the Seraphim bit back past his scarred and battered ceramite. His only purpose was to kill and kill again as he descended deeper into the bleak, murderous abyss of the wayward sons of the Dark-Father. He hissed at them through gritted teeth, "Die for your God-Emperor, you damned harpies!" Trokair
While the blessed STC for the RH1N0 ensured that the function of the vehicle was the same everywhere, and Brynjarr could draw on his training, the modifications the Sisters had made in their veneration of grandfather proved a hindrance. He did not need icons, incent burners and other displays of false piety, merely actions for the betterment of mankind. Sweeping away some such clutter from the controls and surrounding area he eased into the driver’s chair. The yellow orange glow of the immolators flamers as it spewed forth ignited promethium lit up the night, and while he could not see the result the flamers had no doubt been aimed at the besieged members of their troop. He might not be able to take it out, but he should be able to severely distract it, engaging the controls he sent the RH1N0 forward. Lysimachus
Round 3 Summary Cont: [x] Odysseus: Activate Iron Arm. Standard Attack at Theodora, Miss. [x] Vesalius: All Out Attack at Seraphim H, 4 Mag Dam. SoF(15) saves: 100(!),18,43,71, No Successes, 4 Mag Dam suffered, 6 remaining. [x] Brynjarr: Attempts to Ram Immolator, Drive test fails. [x] Immolator: Move forward 5m. It is almost as if the Rhino's machine spirit knows your intent to twist its purpose and harm its own brethren. Ahead, the Immolator rolls forward, unaware of the danger behind. The gunner looks for a target for her steed's fiery breath, but with her commander now engaged at such close quarters, she cannot risk engulfing her too! [x] Radago: Standard Attack at Celestian B and Battle Sisters F (Swift Attack, Two-Weapon Wielder) Attack 1 with Power Sword at Celestian B WS60 +10(Purge the Oppressors) +10(Hulking) -10(Two-Weapon/Ambidextrous) = 70 Roll: 62, Hit on (62=26) Left Arm. S'ynek remains outwardly cold and calm, but his hatred of the Sororitas is plainly seen in every slash and strike. The Celestian crumples, even Paragon armour no match for multiple hits from his sinuously curved relic sword. The narrow blade in Radago's other hand snakes out, punching through the softer corset around one of the Sisters' midriff. She falls back with a look of sudden shock on her angular face. [x] Dominions E: Half: Move 5m forward Half: Standard Shot 0 (Horde Mag 09) +1 (Fire Drill) at Ithan BS40 +10(Short Range) -10(Weather) = 40 Roll: 31, Hit on (31=13) Right Arm 2d10+14 Pen12 4+8+14 = 26 -AV0(8-12) -TB10(8+2) = 16 Wounds suffered. SoF(15) saves: 22,67. 0 Successes, 2 Mag Dam suffered, 4 remaining. All along the bridge, the Sororitas press against the invaders. Nearer the Narthex doors, the Dominions notice Odysseus' psychic shield drop and run forward, determined to finally make their mark on this battle. There are only a handful left, but even a single Meltagun is a deadly weapon. A tightly focused beam of superheated air strikes Ithan on his right shoulder, burning a massive hole through the ceramite of the rounded pad and penetrating deep within. The Techmarine staggers for a moment, but then raises himself erect. With a barbarian roar he hurls himself into the black-clad amazons, chain axe brutally smashing into one body, even as his shearhook rips another apart with gravitic force. Mazer Rackham
Beta: As blows dented and dinged his harness and body alike he retaliated, the dagger slashing low, aiming at hip and thigh flexsteel. Likewise, the sword sought the armpit and necks of his opponents. The Sisters' skill at arms rebuffed him, or the targets dodged back, the power armour they wore adding to their speed, allowing them to veer out of the way. All he could do was stand there and take the raining knives trying to murder him by pinpricks.. ++Throne, just begone!++ Command Test: 35 - 10 (Hero's Shame) = 25 D100: 49 FAIL, Plus 2 DoF Edited December 29, 2021 by Mazer Rackham Trokair, Necronaut and Lysimachus 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370180-to-plunder-the-stars-themselves-episode-iii/page/43/#findComment-5777257 Share on other sites

Orphiel's appeal is met with either stony silence or oaths of contempt for a hated renegade. They continue their attacks. The Sisters on the bridge ignore their losses and surround Radago with almost as many sharp knives as the Assault Marine himself carries.
