So they will begin Engaged in Melee for Round 2) [x] Bullgryn 2: Run (up to 30m) SW to be in Engaged in Melee with Svelk. [x] Bullgryn 3: Run (up to 30m) W to be in Engaged in Melee with Svelk. End of Round 1 The burst of fire from Decimus' heavy bolter tears the unfortunate commander apart. But its muzzle flare, along with a plethora of energy weapons fire, also light up the chamber and reveal your positions. Suddenly without anyone to control their natural aggression, the Bullgryns hurl themselves forward, their weapons raised. The two beasts ahead of you cannot miss Svelk descending on trails on fire before them, and immediately charge forward. They smash through their own crude barricades, bellowing out roars of challenge. On your left, the third Bullgryn also runs towards you, but stops dead in momentary confusion in the doorway as it discerns a shadowy object directly in its path. Then, squinting, it seems to suddenly realise that the low obstacle is actually the crouching figure of your Apothecary. It snarls under its heavy mask and changes direction, steel club swinging in wide, threatening arcs. Will get a post and new pic for Round 2 up ASAP tomorrow. A.T.
A hail of las-fire flashed and sparked against the kine-shield as Odysseus continued his steady advance, the engineerium no place to unleash his more devastating powers. No glory to be had against such mortals nor time to be wasted dispatching them. As the others pressed their assault he cast his eyes across the forces assembled before them and sought to recall the capacity of human-scale boarding torpedoes, compromised by the bulk of their harnesses and heightened impact shielding yet perhaps capable of carrying more saboteurs than had assembled here. Machine God
Draak stowed his Thunder Hammer which mag-locked itself to the side of his backpack. ~ Soon, yes soon, you shall taste blood from your crushed foes! ~ Draak said to his Thunder Hammer and gradually it ceased to give off feedback. Draak stepped onto the circular lift plate and palmed a grenade. He keyed a command into the lift controls and with a jerk the lift rose upward. As the lift rose the ceiling opened like a huge metal iris, green tinged vapours spilled over the opened gap and floated down. Draak rose up into the Engineerium and the lift stopped at floor level with a clank. Draak took in the information presented to him by his senses and added it to the tactical data that he had thus far gleaned from his squad's vital signs on his HUD. The great brute slowed momentarily to peer into the gloom, only noticing at the last moment that the apothecary had been hiding in plain sight.Vesalius was starting to unsheathe Lancet when Draak's life rune suddenly appeared in his helm's display, and the devastator's gruff voice crackled over the vox ordering a volley of bolter fire. Mazer Rackham
Round 2: Orphiel triggers Chapter Demeanour: Sons of the Lion As Cutlass moved to cut the many grasping hands trying to pull it apart, Orphiel watched Svelk beleaguered by the Bullgryns. Slabs of muscle, they showed brute courage, albeit near mindless. The berserk tendency and distended proportions stirred something of the distaste for mutants and the degeneration of the human form, but he banished this, intent more on bringing the combat to a swifter conclusion. Any lingering delay favoured the attackers, and brought the secrets he harboured within closer to the prying eyes of the Inquisition - mortals who had no business to know them. He launched forward, the welts of las-punctured flesh ignored, but achingly sobering. Actions: Full Action: Charge Bullgryn 2 Free Action: Intimidate Special Use - "War Cry" Orphiel blink-clicked an audio file, and relayed it through his vox, at maximum level, Talek Varn, and the host of Space Marines welcoming Cutlass home thundered through his faceplate. The deception carried copious amounts of amusement, using the Tyrant of The Solios Nebula as a blunt weapon to batter foes into submission would no doubt please the man himself. Necronaut
As Vesalius was about to strike, a power axe suddenly appeared in his field of view and clove the bullgryn standing before him from throat to groin, showering the apothecary and those who had charged in behind him in a deluge of blood. The apothecary turned to face Brynjarr, offering the breacher a curt nod before pivoting in search of new prey. He spun around and charged into the nearest bullgryn, assessing targeting information and threat data in the span of a second. His chainsword roared with barely restrained mechanical fury as he ran, and its razor sharp teeth opened a ragged wound in the abhuman's leg as it traced its vicious arc. Beren
Svelk is on the verge of leaping back when he hears Tarek Varn's thundering warcry from behind him. Before he can account for his surprise he instinctively shifts as something impacts gainst his jumpack. The air beside him is blur of blows as Orphiel's blade arcs towards the brute. only to be battered side by it's slab-like shield. The brute still roars in pain, staggering back as blood sprays from where the apothecary has just rammed his chainsword into its leg from the demi-human's exposed flank. Swift attack at Bullgryn 2 WS50 -10 (Two Weapon Wielding) + 10 (Hulking) +20 (Ran) = Target of 70 Axe-Rake Attack 1: 53 (Hit location 35 = Body) Axe-Rake Attack 2: 33 (Hit loction 33 = Body) Combat Knife: 52 (Hit location 25 = Left Arm) Axe-Rake 1 Damage: 1(1d10) + 2 + 10 (SB) - 10 (TB) - 9 (AV11- AP2) = -6 (NULL) Axe-Rake 2 Damage: 7(1d10) + 2 +10 (SB) - 10 (TB) - 9 (AV11- AP2) = 0 (NULL) Combat Knife Damage: 7(1d10) + 10 (SB) - 10 (TB) - 9 (AV11- AP2) = -2 (NULL) Lesson Learnt, Targeted Shots it is from now on. With a snarl, Svelk completes the pack attak. His axe rack swings out to hook itself onto the salb-shield, yanking himself up and forwards so that that his knife-arm reaches round the shields edge, slamming into the brute's arm. If this does anything at all to dissuade the beast, the demi-human doesn't show it. Machine God
After hearing a substantial volley from Decimus, Draak noticed the Dagger crewmen advance towards him in his peripheral vision. Suddenly the Naval Ratings in front of him break away as if scared. Scared or ordered to break, Draak filed that theoretical away. Moments after the Naval Ratings broke away he felt two hot impacts from a volley fired at him by the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. Hellgun shot at Draak, 2 shots (Horde Size 15 +1 Fire Drill) Shot 1: BS40 +10(Aim) +10(RDS) = 60, Roll: 05, Hit on (05=50) Body Hordes cannot be Dodged. Dam 1d10+4 +1d10(Horde Size) Pen7 4+4+7 = 15 -AV5(12-Pen7) -TB8 = 2 Wounds suffered. Shot 2: BS40 +10(Aim) +10(RDS) = 60, Roll: 42, Hit on (42=24) Left Arm Hordes cannot be Dodged. Dam 1d10+4 +1d10(Horde Size) Pen7 9+4+5 = 18 -AV4(11-Pen7) -TB8 = 6 Wounds suffered, total 8 suffered. One Hellgun shot had pierced Eisen at the junction of Draak's bionic hand and armour, whilst the other one had penetrated a weak spot on his left shoulder. The Flesh is Weak, but Iron Endures! Round 2 Ends. The Bullgryns react to your attacks just as their nature impels them. With more violence. The injured beast roars, lashing out with both its weapons. It uses its heavy club to try to sweep Vesalius legs out from under him, even as it smashes forward with its slabshield in an attempt to knock Orphiel from his feet. The second Bullgryn ignores the stabs of Svelk's combat knife and raises its mace for a massive overhand blow, but the strike - power without precision - goes wide and slams harmlessly into the deck. Will wait to see what happens with Vesalius' Dodge and Orphiel's Knockdown roll, then I'll get a map up to start Round 3. Mazer Rackham
Orphiel Knockdown: STR: 66 D100: 87 (FAIL, BAH and LOL) FP Re-roll from Demeanour (if granted) D100: 24 PASS, 4 DoS + 2 Unnat Str x 2 = 6 DoS Bullgryn takes a dirt bath! (EDIT: Calcs Corrected) Crimson slick spattered him from Vesalius' strike, yet the Bullgryn was undaunted - proving why their kind was used as a shock trooper in the armies of the Imperium. Trained in the weapons of close-quarter action, and with the power to wield them, the brutes were formidable. The one he'd already shot with Charybdis was as tough as he was heavyset - swinging with cudgel and shield, natural tendency to maul and maim. His gambit to pulverise Vesalius was followed by a beefy shoulder driving the bulky slab shield down onto Orphiel, seeking to pummel him onto the deck like a bonding rivet. Yet footwork was the master of the dance, and as the power poured into the crushing buffet, Orphiel collapsed his defence, bracing his arms across his body and shoving hard back, meeting the plate of ceramite the Bullgryn wielded, redirecting the graceless impetus, overbalancing the brute. A guttural grunt of shock escaped the burly abhuman as he thumped down at Orphiel's feet, thrashing to protect himself even as he toppled. A tone in his ear told him the plasma pistol had recharged... Necronaut
The powerful blow from the bullgryn would have taken his legs out from under him had the attack not been so telegraphed. Preferring not to match strength on strength, Vesalius avoided the strike entirely, nimbly dancing to the side while Orphiel took advantage of the brute's sudden loss of balance to knock the abhuman to the ground. Dodge:AG63 Dodge: 1d100 13 13: success, 5 DoS!
