Jacques Corbin
I have am hosting a long distance friend in October, and they are bringing their Death Guard. Can't get a list out of them, but I have done some research into what the good Death Guard units are. So, anybody had games versus Death Guard? Care to share any lessons learned? duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370275-suggestions-versus-death-guard/ Share on other sites
Toldavf
What army are you planning to field? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370275-suggestions-versus-death-guard/#findComment-5699701 Share on other sites
Tokugawa
Never try to think about "classical RG" turn1 all-in charge. That simply don't work against DG. Game vs DG is about objectives. If they take an object and begin to farm VP, it is very hard to remove them. But You have better board presence and speed, if you arrived at the objectives earlier, it is also not too easy for DG to remove your units. DG don't have many AP-3 dmg3+ weapons, so terminator type units are good against them, especially when back with apothecary. Jacques Corbin
Agreed, I tend to play the objectives hard. I am hoping they do not screen their Blighthaulers very well, because I want to use Strike from the Shadows with my Eradicators. I am trying to figure out drop zone clearance. They run a marine heavy force, but vehicles and demon engines will be a thing. I am hoping to drop the Plague Marines with volume of fire. Characters especially will go down with Surgical Strikes, so I hope. Otherwise, I am thinking of taking the midfield early, and reinforcing it. Might break out the Ironclads. Thoughts? Toldavf
Well obviously avoiding anything that is damage 2 should be avoided, seismic hammers do overkill terminator though the numbers of attacks are pretty small and the 4++ of the enemy makes them hard to reliably put down.Mass standard plasma or melta are the weapons of choice. If you are going to run any assault units support them with a judiciar so they get to swing before any units on your turn. He's great shenanigan protection and also mean you can absorb charges better vs things like pow walkers. Lord Raven 19
Heavy hellblasters might be worth a try to overcharge and instakill PMs, won't work so well against termies though. Jacques Corbin
Hmm, yeah, the Judicar. Maybe pair him with some Bladeguard and maybe a Primaris Techmarine. Might be hilarious. Yeah, I am worried about those Terminators dropping in. Either to remove my Whirlwinds or to take an objective in my backfield. CCE1981
That is why I like the idea of Infiltrators on home objectives, losing their slightly better bolter shots to raise banners isn’t a big deal. Pushing out those deepstrikes to outside charge range is pretty awesome. I like giving them the Helix Gauntlet to help reduce the damage they take. XeonDragon
Assault intercessors, assault hellblasters and plasma inceptors will make for good volume of fire damage 1 attacks. I'd consider some assault centurions to SFTS. If you want to take and hold the mid-field early and aggressively, terminators or relic terminators are great to drop next to some incursors, infiltrators or intercessors you already have holding the objective, do some move-blocking with. A CML on a squad of terminators is good. Chain fists are excellent if they bring vehicles.
