 Excellent use of the GF9 models (and the Patriarch print?)! I was just thinking the other day that they would work well standing in for a Broodlord and Genestealers. I know a few people who use the Prodos models to play Space Hulk with which inspired the thought.

I wanted those prodos models but didn't have the capacity to "jump" in time and justwasn't gonna pay that kind of price. But these guys are so affordable i had to.

EDIT: I start applying paint tonight.

Queen/Patriarch looks great.

For what it's worth the GF9 Warriors were sculpted by the Acheron team, formerly known as Prodos. The plastic models scale almost identically with their resin cousins. The only shame is the feet being partly molded into the bases but that can be overcome.

Thank you NTaW, i missed a pair of hoses on the top left and right of the head, I'll take care of those later.

The feet being base-locked is a minor grievance. The scale though, once i had these little gribblies next to some primaris and og marines i knew they were something i wanted to work with. They're bodies and proportions are very "average imperial citizen" in comparison (or at least what i imagine those proportions to be).

The Brood grows stronger!

Our eldest brothers move through the depths. Protecting us from those who would call us blasphemous! Those who would seek us out where we live! Those who would butcher us for knowing the truth! Who would murder our children for our perceived sins! Those followers of the false emperor, whose minds have not yet been opened to our mothers song!

Old Mother has guided us for generations, her song leading us to truth!

There is no emperor of mankind my brothers and sisters! Only the all-consuming black maw! It devours all reality, for where the light shines darkness has already been!

And that darkness, my sweet siblings, will return again to consume the light! We must do our part to convince the foolish slaves above that darkness is inevitable! That the black maw comes to consume us all!

Deep beneath even the Black Maw's chambers a slumbering form shifts in the darkness. It can feel in its simple yet brilliant mind that the time for awakening is coming, the Black Maw is growing near and the Queen Mother shall welcome it.

First works on the Iconward.

med_gallery_33718_17033_243341.jpg

I don't care for the way the dry-brush looks on the ridged part of the mining, uh, armor(?) So I'm going to redo that. I tried leaving it black but it still wasn't right.

Orange? Too prisoner.

Red? Too metal people.

Grey? Everything else i do is grey. No. Just no.

Blue? Too obviously bug man.

Purple? Too obviously alien.

Green? WAAAGH!

White? Too box art.

I'll think on this and return.

On another note my original plans for this involved getting a bottle of Musou Black (found here: https://www.ko-pro.black/product/musou-black-paint/ ), for the insectoid carapace parts. I wish i had done so. I guess that's for a future project.

Took some better pictures today.

Last one for tonight.

Brother Scrotus, Acolyte Iconward of the Black Maw

Caked in the filth of the underworld a lone creature scurries through the shadowed tunnels. Desperately clutching a wrapped staff, its most valuable treasure. The creature had been sleeping, saving its strength for the next gathering. It had heard Old Mother's call and awakened, it had a job to do. A noble and important cause that would please Old Mother and Old Mothers pleasure was the broods pleasure. This creature would relish in the psychic feedback of that joy.

The almost man-like creature entered the main gathering chamber and stepped into the dim light. It wiped away some of the filth and unfurled the generations old banner. Proudly holding it out for the it's brothers and sisters to view.

Old Mother could feel it's presence and a warm sensation of joy and love radiated out across the brood. Brother Scrotus, Iconward of the Black Maw felt joy, pleasure, love. Brother Scrotus felt as if he were her favorite in this moment. He felt himself smile.

The safe bet would be agrax earthshade, but if you want something more organic, maybe try the Druuchi violet ? Or drakenshade blue if you fancy a cold alien skin...
These are just the 3 I use the most ; you should make some tests on bits and find out what suits you best !

I have finished the Abominant and will apply washes hopefully later today. Then post some pics.

Other than that I'm not super pleased with the current outcome of the Abominant. My current color scheme works nicely on the more bug like gribblies but less so on the more humanoid brethren. So after applying washes i may shelf this one until I've decided on a different color scheme change.

I'm not sure actually what shade agrax earthshade is but i do have blue and purple washes. So once the pups are in bed I'll get to painting.

A little bit of the fluff around the Cult of the Black Maw and Hivefleet Ridley:

Zebes

Zebes is considered a class XIX deathworld due to its volcanic activity resulting in geomagnetic and acid rain storms. The Nostromo Hive is the only human colony that resides there.

Mining and Refinery Hulk LV-426

When mankind first set out to colonize the stars they built massive city sized ships that once landed on the surface of a world would contain all the necessities to become the basis of civilization or industry in that place.

To this end the mining and refinery hulk designated LV-426 came to rest within the caldera of the extinct volcano Crateria.

Hadley's Hope Colony Ship

Alongside LV-426 a colony ship designated by its crew as Hadley's Hope was sent to Zebes to establish mankind's hold on the planet. Once the ship had touched down within Crateria the inhabitants began converting it into the first colony on Zebes.

Nostromo Hive

Built upon the original settlement of Hadley's Hope, the Nostromo Hive houses billions of people within its walls. Protecting the citizens from the inhospitable wastelands of the planet's surface.

Kraid Sector

The Kraid Sector is a highly industrialized mining zone deep beneath the underhive. It's ownership tracks back to one of the oldest families on Zebes. The area has become home to the cult's general populace who have converted much of the equipment into ramshackle living spaces.

Brinstar Sector

The Brinstar Sector is divided into two separate ecological biomes, a lush underground jungle and beneath that an arid, rocky area covered in red dirt.

Brinstar Verdant Zone

The Brinstar Verdant Zone is a highly tropical, and humid section of Zebes, located just beneath the planet's surface. It is home to numerous types of vegetation (many of which are carnivorous), as well as home to over 60 percent of the cult's bio-forms.

Brinstar Depths

The Brinstar Depths are an arid rocky section covered in fine red dirt. There is less native flora and fauna than above yet the cult's grasp is still apparent in the roving gangs that call this place home.

Norfair Sector

The Norfair Sector is one of the most inhospitable areas found on Zebes. Located deep beneath the planet's surface, Norfair is composed of highly-active volcanic caverns, and is home to many highly adapted bio-forms. Massive lakes of magma, superheated caverns, and boiling streams of highly acidic substances make this sector one of, if not the most, dangerous places on Zebes.

Maridia Sector

The Maridia Sector houses a water purification factorum beneath the underhive. It was destroyed when the aquifer used to store the tainted water from above burst and flooded much of the sector.

Aquifer Zone

This area is composed of flooded subterranean caverns infested with vicious ravener broods and the Botwoon (trygon), a massive serpent worshipped by the cult.

Maridia Purification Factorum

The Maridia Purification Factorum has become partially submerged by the flood waters. The cult has established themselves a bastion within the remaining structure which also serves as the lair of the Draygon (carnifex), a crab like creature worshipped by the cult.
