Tau Listings & Units

Hello everyone! My name is Daedalus; I'm new to the forums here and fairly new to Warhammer 40k Tabletop.
 

I guess why I am making this post is, I'm curious as to what army and sept types to use, I've been playing Farsight Enclaves currently and from the games I have played, the feel I've gotten, I do not believe that it's the sept for me. As a friend of mine stated, it's a lot more... 'aggressive & in your face' type of Tau game play, while overall absolute Tau meta is not really concerned to me, I mostly want to you know... have a chance, so to speak at winning...  The point I'm trying to make, I guess would be I'm looking for ideas.

 

The factions I've been playing against at current is Chaos(Death guard), Necrons, Orks & Space Marines. While not ideal enemies to play against where I have it's quite limited. Regardless, I was hoping you guys would be able to help me out with some sept choices and army lists. Points between 1000pts - 2500pts. I appreciate any and all assistance on this matter. Thank you!
