rookster Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is any cannon concerning reclaiming the war gear/relics of other chapters from the battlefield and what the various chapters tend to do with it. I don't nessesarily mean the a major conflict site where multiple chapters are fighting at the same time, but more like a chapter locating the site of a previous conflict and finding gear/wrecks/remains. Otherwise, the Gauntlets of Ultramar and Axe Morkai are both relics recovered from the battlefield and reconsecrated for use. Spinsanity Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 I vaguely remember the Angels of Iron (iirc) being a staff-created chapter presented in a White Dwarf years ago as one which was for some reason poorly supplied and would salvage replacement wargear from previous battlefields. The Marines Malevolent are often described in similar terms, although I’m unfamiliar as to why, other than them being so antagonistic that other imperial institutions might be reluctant to offer any assistance beyond the strictest minimum... So overall, there is if anything precedence for some chapters doing so and claiming others’ wargear. I assume other chapters might return such relics to their original chapter, it’s really all up to how you want to portray your force... Karhedron Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 There was a (very) old story back in 1st edition about a BA Terminator squad that included a suit in battered Ultramarine colours. They had recovered it from the battlefield but every time they painted it BA colours, the wearer was killed. The current wearer refused to let the Techmarines repaint it and claimed the Machine Spirit knew it was only on loan. This implies there was an intention to return the suit at some point. CCE1981 Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 Nothing Canon but my Chapter that I built specializes in joining a small ForgeWorld in their hunt for Archeotech. In my lore they have found and restored several lost Relics. Usually presented when accusations of poaching recruits from another Chapters recruitment worlds.
